We’re trying to make plans for Tokyo Disney in 2025 and I’m having trouble finding some info. I’ve tried checking multiple review sites but apparently haven’t hit the right place yet. The main TokyoDisney site is extremely slow which makes trying to find this info directly from the source difficult. Any help would be appreciated!
Can you not stay for more than 2 nights? Whenever I try to select a vacation package it only gives me the option of 1 or 2 nights. When I select 2 nights it gives me a plan that’s 3Days but still only 2 nights at the hotel.
Are there any of the rooms at the official Disney hotels that can hold 5 people? When trying to build a vacation package it keeps telling me that there are no rooms available but I can’t tell if that’s because of the dates I’m looking at or if it’s because I’m trying to get a room for 5 people.
Has anyone seen a good price breakdown of getting a package VS just paying for “fastpass” (I know that’s not the official name, but it’s what most people will recognize) on a per ride basis? I’m mainly looking at a package for the access to the Attraction Tickets which seem to be reusable “fastpass” on the main rides. But almost all those same rides also use either the 40th free “fastpass” system, or the pay per ride “fastpass”. With only 1 day per park, is it really worth the extra cost to get a package with the reusable pass VS just paying to hit each ride once?
Yes, the TDR website is frustrating and slow! But the way it sets up packages is similar to how Disney Paris does its packages. Essentially, you don’t get to choose a package the way you want it. We are spoiled at the US parks!
Enter less people to start with. When the availability comes up, click on each type of room. It will show you how many beds and the capacity. There are screenshots of this on my planning thread.
After a lot of clicking around I finally got more room choices. Our group is 3 adults and 2 kids. (1 under 13, 1 over) For the under 13 if I select the bedshare option the package would give me more hotels to choose from. Even though the rooms listed were for 4 people, it added a note that there would be a small fee for an extra bed to be brought in.
As much as I’d love the “fastpasses”, on my test dates I can get 3 nights in the Tinkerbell room at Tokyo Disneyland hotel for around $1662.18. The package for only 2 nights at the hotel for the same room is telling me $5,345. Given that the park tickets are roughly $60, that’s only an additional $600 for the 2 days of tickets so those “fastpasses” make up almost $3000 worth of the package price? ($2K if you’re being generous and saying the other perks of the package are worth a bit.) The prices will probably be different for my actual trip dates but if that’s the average markup it’s probably way better to just pay for individual ride passes.
Okay let me see if I can hit these but keep asking
you can only do two nights on a package but if you are able to secure the same room type for the extra nights hotel only they will attach the two rezzies and stay in the same room
in the package you pay for the premium passes (like beauty and the beast or parade viewing) and you won’t pay for the free ones. So basically your package cost will depend on which attractions you ask for passes for. The benefit of the package is those are guaranteed up front and you can still get more day of so it will help you to maximize time (by paying money). Another benefit of the package is it was more accepting of my credit cards than the tickets only. I could never get that to work but I was able to book the package with my card. However if you’re staying in the hotel you’re guaranteed the ability to buy tickets at the desk there and all cards work there on site and in the app.
with respect to a room that sleeps five I’m sure there are some but we we got three rooms for the six of us. We did sleep three in a room and I know there were rooms that sleep four but ours was like two full size beds and pull out bed. Hubby is 6’5” so he and I each took a slightly smaller than full size but bigger than twin bed and daughter slept on the trundle. Most of the world is not like America with respect to full families fitting in a room so it’s gonna be tougher anywhere to find rooms that sleep five. And those rooms availability varies based on package or room only and they sell out fast (but people cancel so keep checking. I was able to do the thing where we got three nights in the same room for three rooms by hawking the site).
Wrt to the passes you can very easily do it day of.
As soon as you enter the park do all of the following
grab a 40th pass for something available right away
grab another 40th pass for something available later (you can book your next as soon as it’s good or the wait time period has elapsed which I think was 2 hours for the free ones, but you do not have to actually check in to the ride)
buy a premier paid pass for a ride (you could prolly do the same here and get two if one was available right away and the wait time for passes more than an hour out is one hour)
buy a premier paid pass for a show (shows and rides are counted separate so you can do both every hour and I highly recommend the parade viewing packages) again every hour you can buy another. Both parades in Disneyland are amazing and I recommend this so you can show up last minute quite literally and have an up front seat
enter any show lotteries you want. If you don’t get it go to the first show of the day about 30 min early as the first show doesn’t use a lottery so you’re more likely to get in from the line.
Make sure to set a timer for when you can get your next free priority pass and your next paid premier access passes on your phone and I think you’ll be able to get them all that you want without prebuying.
The price different isn’t making sense to me either. I’m using test dates of Feb 25th because that’s as far out as you can book right now and I wanted the best chance of seeing all the options before other people booked them.
I tell it I want 2 days (the most it will allow) and it gives me three options. 3 days, 3 days, 3 days with only 2 park tickets. I picked the 2 park tickets since that’s the one that’s closest to our plans. I want 3 nights, 2 park days.
It says it comes with the a 1 day at Disneyland and one Fantasy Springs Magic ticket for the 2nd day. It then says dining is optional but won’t let me go to the next page until I select restaurants for all my meals. So it’s making reservations but I doubt it’s charging for the meals so that doesn’t explain the cost difference.
The way it’s worded on the site makes it sound like you get 1 attraction pass that can be used for all the rides on the attraction pass list. There was no option to select specific rides that would indicate it was 1 pass per ride. And of course the Fantasy Springs magic pass is supposed to include multiple rides on those attractions. If I’m reading it wrong and we only get 1 pass thats good on a single ride for that price it’s even more ridiculous.
There are of course the other benefits like the drink pass and the popcorn bucket, but I don’t see those making up the cost difference.
I bet it is including food. I think ours included breakfast. And yes the system of picking all that stuff like meals and passes would time out on me so many times it was so frustrating and you have to start over so just keep trying and you’ll get there after some tears and pulled hairs. lol
Wrt to the ride passes for free, yes it’s just a list and you can choose day of (another benefit of the package cuz in the park you’ll have to pick one and it’ll give you a set time). I think there may be more on that list that you could book day of too. Like we were able to get everything we wanted of the free ones available so I think we used one of our package ones on the Magic Lamp Theater and I don’t think that was one you could book a day of pass for.
Btw room only when I went came available three months out (by date and not be the exact count of 90 days so for Aug 1, May 1 I could book the room). But packages were 2 months out. Once you have a room reservation you get access to book dining in the hotel and I missed out because I didn’t realize the room only would let me book the hotel dining. So if you want to eat at the hotel table service and are doing room only make sure you book dining as soon as your room is booked
Btw you can buy park tickets at Klook ahead of time with American cards if it gives you peace of mind and you don’t do package.
The food apparently was part of it. I went back and tried again and this time I was able to find a way to tell it “no restaurant” for the lunches and dinners. The breakfast at the hotel was still required. We’ve got some food allergies so being locked in on the restaurants wasn’t a good idea for us anyway.
When doing the test with the restaurants it was 756,400yen. Without the restaurants it dropped to 673,100 yen. So that dropped roughly $600 off the price. But that’s still a package total of $4728 for 2 nights and 2 days of tickets. Looking individually I can get the same room for 3 nights at $1662 and tickets would be around $600. So the package is around $2500 more than the room and tickets.
I did confirm that this particular plan was basically unlimited Attraction tickets. So that’s probably a big part of the price. “This plan includes Special Attraction Tickets which allow you to experience eligible attractions at Tokyo Disneyland on the first day and Tokyo DisneySea on the second day, as many times as you wish, and at a time of your choosing.”
I decided to try one of the other plans even though they are more park days then I want. The 3 park days, 2 hotel nights plan that gives each person 2 attraction tickets per park day came up with a total of 602,300 yen. So that’s about $500 cheaper but still a bit of a markup over just getting the room for 3 nights and buying individual attraction tickets the day of.
@gingerSnaps543222 I really appreciate the feedback! It helped me know what to go back and look at closely when I tried to build it again.
I think you got it reversed about packages VS hotel. Packages currently go through the 1st week of March, but hotel rooms only go till Jan 12th. So if I do hotel only I just have to keep my fingers crossed that the room we want most doesn’t sell to a package before it opens up for direct booking. Our dates are the end of June so the crowd calendars look like it shouldn’t be too bad.
I think it’s just changed but it’s possible cuz I’m old with a terrible memory lol. I went last year and it was still a little close to Covid type policies; they were just bringing back the dinner shows for example. I’m so glad you’ve found what you want (also I’m pretty sure it was Tokyo Disney where I booked a room I wanted one way and then dropped it and it was immediately available so you might could book a package to hold those rooms and then try to quickly cancel and pick em up as room only, but of course pay attention to package cancellation refund policies). Also, I think they do have a diff pool of rooms for one versus the other cuz I seem to remember seeing more types available as a package.
