To Go-vid or not to Go-vid?

I…:see_no_evil::see_no_evil::see_no_evil:

But I do sincerely hope it stays mild and no one else was infected.

Sorta wish he’d taken you up on it, but good job for trying!

That was so kind❤️

Thank you. Everything is kind of wait, watch and learn right now. The congregation is rallying around home deliveries and a special collection now to help offset expenses, as has been done for others with the virus. I was pushing him to make a special decision before he was ready I think. Its one thing to talk about Covid, but quite another to experience it with someone you know. Enough said.

So I guess as sort of a closing note on this thread before it fades away, a final update: we opted to cancel the trip. Our travel agent has been amazing and they’re working to get us back the full amount. We took a shot hoping the cases would have peaked a week or two ago, but unfortunately they didn’t. There’s a reason I stay away from casinos. Fortunately, we never told the kids about the trip for this exact situation, so at least no harm done there. Needless to say, I’m extremely bummed but in the grand scheme of things, this is a pretty minor thing.

That said, I’m (maybe weirdly) optimistic about where we’re headed. Delta is starting to feel more like the last hurdle (the long, anxious climb up in Splash Mountain, if you will) before things settle down. I think Covid is here to stay, but I think in the next few years it will gradually fade into just another upper respiratory infection. I’ve obviously been wrong about things, but I think if I had a mid-October or later trip booked, I’d be feeling okay.

To wrap, I sincerely appreciate and thank you all for the commiserations, the advice, and just the general sense of community in trying to figure this out. I hope maybe it helped some of you, too. Though things didn’t work out for us, I truly believe we’re almost there, even if we’ve arrived in much more angsty and frustrating circumstances than we needed to. Take care of yourselves — mentally and physically — stay safe, and maybe you’ll hear from me again in June 2023 about what ADR’s I should be making. Cheers.

Okay, finally, completely, cancelled our October trip, which was rescheduled from last October. Rescheduled most of it to January, at which time (fingers crossed!) the grandkids should be vaccinated. I really don’t want to reschedule again.

I hear this! That’s why we still went to Aulani after rescheduling 2x already and the governor asking visitors to stay away. We were going no matter what, unless the gov. locked out visitors.
