I was looking at making a Garden Grill dinner ADR for my older girls and I bc it’s something we’ve never done and Chip and Dale are so cute. $221 for the three of us for dinner. That feels like a lot?
We LOVED Topolino’s breakfast last August and it truly felt worth the $$$.
I’m so curious about what others are going to say here.
To me, for the 5 of us, it wasn’t worth it. Now, having said that, I’m glad we experienced it, the food was pretty decent, but it wasn’t anyone’s favorite, especially for that cost. There’s nothing I can point to and say oh this was bad–it wasn’t. It was fine.
The interaction with Chip and Dale was great, though–we got a lot of laughs, and they spend a lot of time with you.
We went for breakfast and had a good experience but I agree with PP, it was just fine. Food was good, characters were great! However the slow rotation bothered my husband which was surprising as I’m the one who gets motion sick. And our kids like other character meals better. I’m glad we did it once but it is really expensive. If it’s your only character meal splurge, I’d do it but can’t comment on how dinner is since we only did breakfast!
I’ve done the dinner and the breakfast (twice). The character interactions were the same. The breakfast was great and I would do it again. The dinner was spectacularly poor value for money.
I love the breakfast, but know that you are paying for the experience, not the food. We brought some fake acorns in a little net bag for Chip and Dale to facilitate the interaction. Their reaction was fun.
We loved Garden Grill breakfast before they tweaked the menu. I did try it once after the change, February 2023 maybe? It was awful so much so that we haven’t gone back. It has been requested since then by my family (they weren’t all there for the awful meal) but I’ve said no. I cannot stomach paying that bill for 6 adults . I am encouraged by the positive reviews of others so maybe it is back to being good or maybe we just had bad luck? Maybe I’ll try it again someday with a smaller subset of the family. I suspect Topolinos may be more made to order resulting in better quality.
We had dinner there too many years ago for it to be relevant but we did find that we used to like breakfast more than dinner.
The character interactions are excellent so I think if that is the primary motivation for going, you won’t be disappointed as long as you consider that the primary thing you are paying for with hopefully a good meal as a bonus.
Big yes from me! The atmosphere is very relaxed, the characters are great and we like the food. With 4 boys family style is a necessity to fill them up lol. We’ve been there when they were kids, my oldest asked to have his bday there, and dh and I have been on our own. All positive experiences.
Character interaction is great, but the food (dinner) is meh. LWTL is one of my favorite rides, so I had to do GG at least once. And if I was looking for a character meal I would do it again.
We’ve only done pre RD breakfast and it was amazing! I don’t really fancy the dinner though.
ETA by far the best food item was the pan of warm cinnamon buns and they stopped doing them, but for all I know they brought them back - I am so out of the loop.
We - me and youngest grandson - were there for lunch in 2019 with 3 girls - 5, 7 and 8.
It wasn’t crowded. Pluto was a major hoot. The girls loved the changing scenery. I seriously doubt they noticed any food they ate all week. I’ve been chasing that mac and cheese ever since. It was . Youngest grandson probably didn’t notice the food either as much as he relished his girls enjoying one of his favorite places (WDW).
The family style has its benefits. It’s a quiet laid back character meet place - better than some of the others. Crystal Palace has been dropped from rotation due to slow character interaction. New characters at 1900 have dropped that from rotation. Cape May is still a positive (there really is no leftover angel from the last evening’s buffet but really hope people continue to think that cuz I don’t want to lose this place as well)
But if we’re not doing any other character meals we could do Storybook Dining. The Queen and my sister got on quite admirably.
I don’t know what isn’t expensive at Disney World. But all the other character meals are not as intimate. No other people are looking at you/directly 5 feet over at the next table. The food is fresh and good (there is something to be said about eating vegetables from Living with the Land) It is our family’s favorite character meal.
Love Garden Grill and will be there in like 16 day, but whos counting. I have this whole plan to RD Soarin then jump in line again then hit Lwtl with LLMP to start grabbing more for later at HS. If all goes well we accomplish all that and maybe see the Awesome planet film before 1030 breakfast.
As others have said the character interaction is great and it is the most “private” of the character meals I’ve been to. All the classic breakfast items plus that steak and I think we even got POG juice last time. Anyway for breakfast its a great time!
Garden Grill is my DH’s favorite table service restaurant in all of WDW. He requests it every trip. The food is good comfort food, nothing fancy, but we find it tasty. We love watching LwtL go by, our kids love the rotation, the character interactions are great, it’s quiet, and just feels relaxed after a day of trekking around the world. We always opt for family style over buffet if possible.
So unimpressed with the food.
The restaurant turning is cool. Seeing into the land and looking for hidden mickeys. We went during COVID so character interactions had a barrier between us and characters which was lame, but not applicable now! So I can only really speak to the food. Which was “meh”
I finally remembered to ask youngest grandson his opinion of Garden Grill. He said, it’s food. But, he said, by the end of your week at WDW, just food is welcome.
That reminded me that Trail’s End Kitchen used to be that end of trip just plain food that the kids always appreciated.
We have a soft spot for Garden Grill, was our first stop at Epcot on our first day of our first family trip in 2018, back when pre-rope drop breakfast ADRs were still a thing.
We went for lunch in 2024 and we liked it a lot! The accomodations for special diets plus family style all you can eat were a good combo for our 4 picky eaters. If you have been living on pretzels and dole whip for a few days, this is a good meat and potatoes meal. It was my personal record tie for most overstuffed with Liberty Tree Tavern and Tusker House.
It also worked as a low key sensory break, like others mentioned, you aren’t in a great big sprawling room full of people like many other buffet places. It’s one of the most quiet and peaceful spots in Epcot that I’ve been. Only exception is when you rotate back around to face the entrance and are kind of on display to passers by in the land pavilion. I took this as hint that we had reached our unofficial time limit, but we were hungry so we at just a little more anyway!
Unlike some other places like Tusker where we finished eating prior to the end of the character rotation, we had characters coming around a second time before we got done with lunch.
Your mileage may vary, but I would for sure go back again if we get the chance. I do recommend riding soarin before and living with the land after in that specific order.
