The Muppet Show

Rave review from NYTimes.

There’s no newfangled hook, no contrived rationalization to bring the characters up to date… There are songs and slapstick and jokes, and nobody, blessedly, stayed up too late thinking about the reasons why. (Because Muppets, that’s why.)

I rather enjoyed it. I’d definitely watch a season of what they were serving up.

We enjoyed it!

But Kermit’s voice wasn’t quite right

I haven’t watched it yet, but I did see Kermit interviewed on a talk show, and I agree about his voice. With all the talented voice actors out there, I think they could do better.

Because Jim Henson can’t project his voice as well anymore.

He should try harder. Being dead is no excuse

I agree. This sort of became more apparent as the show progressed, but the spirit of the Muppet Show was there so it ended up as a minor quibble.

Agree. I enjoyed it and would watch more episodes. I vaguely know who Seth Rogen is (thanks to him for “getting” the Muppets and Ex. Producing) and zero clue who the musical star was. She did well tho. No Harry Belafonte, Michael Caine, Gilda Radner or John Denver, but better than many at acting with the Muppets—and no one under 40 knows who they are, so we’re even on that count.

I hope it does well enough that the Muppets have a role in the parks beyond RRRC—I can’t ride coasters like that, and will be sad to miss the retheme.

Agree - and even though I was hearing the difference in his voice, I thought he did an amazing job singing as Kermit!

I really hope so!

There had to be different muppeteers in the show and the interview he did with Kimmel. That voice was way, way off what any muppeteer had done since Jim Henson’s death.

Ohhh, good, so what I heard wasn’t what I’ll hear on the actual show.

No. The show voice was much closer to the voice as has been done since Jim Henson did it.
