Update: my sister says they can only book their days one at a time. So three days in advance for each day, calculated separately. She tried booking for additional days but it wouldn’t let her. Usually offsite still gets length of stay for their ticket, but there is apparently a limitation on tickets included with a sporting event package.
Working on a plan and added LLMP since we plan to do that but when I optimize it’s only showing 2 prebooked? Also curious on tips/advice when in the park & as you book LL’s how do you prioritize getting them? By what TP suggests next or using Thrill data as what’s harder to get?
I would get advance LLs for the three highest priority attractions based on availability / length of queue / your personal preference. Here is the general order I would recommend (this is based on stale data, but should be relatively accurate):
If you are able to get PPF and WtP and/or HM in advance, do that, but make sure at least one of your LLs is for the first hour the park is open so you can unlock tier restrictions.
It’s good that your plan tells you to book HM and SM, but other than that I find the recommendations odd. iasw??? Very poor use of a LL, unless you’ve literally gone through everything else or just want to unlock tiers ASAP.
I think the current LLMP system is too much for the customized TP to handle. Just my opinion. It is a powerful tool, but takes some familiarity with the park and the system to make it work.
I agree with Jeff here. I always force my own LL’s in my TP’s based on the information I’ve been able to gather from Thrill Data. I also use Evaluate rather than Optimize. But maybe better, (if you have the time), is to watch return times for the next few weeks to get a feel for the patterns of availability. This was recommended to me by @nitsaki , and I think it is good advice. Good luck!
Interesting. We’ve always been onsite with the cheer package. But one year DD did off site with her mom and I don’t recall we were limited… We stayed onsite and bought the Tix through the comp group… Maybe they changed it up with the new LL system.
But it’s a stupid change. Why make it more stressful.
I do not think TP has good advice for LLs. I would definitely decide on what to prebook and what to leave for same day based on my gathered knowledge of LL behavioral patterns. This I personally gather by observation via BG1 over the course of weeks before my trip. Others rely on TD data. In any case, when making a TP I enter my anticipated prebooked and sameday LLs and use EVALUATE. I then tweak and repeat Evaluation. I use very relaxed walking pace and build into the TP rest time. These two act as buffers and help give a more realistic TP.
Yes. I’ve tried it a couple times. It seems like it suggests the bare minimum to get you through your day- one or two LLs in my experience.
I’m planning out my pre-booking strategy. 7am is during key morning chaos around here, so want to make sure that I’ve got a plan and can bang this out in as short a while as possible. Will plan to use BG1 to modify if/when needed.
Does this look like the right ‘order’ of priority/ availability, given the times we’re looking for?
| Ride | Date | Ideal Time |
|---|---|---|
| Slinky Dog Dash | Jun 9 | 9:30 |
| TOT | Jun 9 | 9:00 |
| TSMM | Jun 9 | 10:30 |
| ROTR | Jun 9 | 12:00 |
| 7DMT | Jun 4 | 9:00 PM |
| Frozen | Jun 4 | 9:30 |
| SSE | Jun 4 | 11:30 |
| LWTL | Jun 4 | 12:30 |
| GOTG | June 5 | 11:00 |
| Space | Jun 10 | 9:00 |
| Tron | Jun 10 | 9:30 |
| Buzz | Jun 10 | 10:30 |
| Haunted Mansion | Jun 10 | 11:00 |
| ROTR | June 6 | 16:00 |
| Na’vi River Journey | June 6 | 7:30 |
| Safari | June 6 | 8:00 |
| EE | June 6 | 10:00 |
In general I would move your LLSPs down. Obviously you can go ahead and book them when you book your LLMP for each day, but if you only need an LLSP for a specific day (like June 5), move it down the priority list. Book 7DMT after booking LLMP on June 4th. Same with Tron and RotR.
Without looking at the charts, I think it’s a tough call between June 9th and June 4th. Frozen is tough to get for early in the day. I would go with whichever ride is overall your higher priority. If June 4th is your first eligible day for day 7, you may have to settle for a later Frozen and a different ride at 9:00am to unlock tiers.
Thanks. Our first park day is the 4th but check in day is the 3rd. Slinky is our top priority ride over everything. I might be able to have two of us booking so the 4th and the 9th could be booked together.
I’ll go back and double check the charts…
From what I saw on Becky Gideon’s instagram, GOTG has been going fast ever since it moved to standy. I wouldn’t bump it down on your list.
I always double check actual availability the night before booking opens to see if there’s anything I need to adjust: https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/lightning-lane
Sometimes when I can see that I’m unlikely to get the time I want, I still book it for whatever is available and then set a thrill data alert to be notified of earlier times. Doesn’t always work out perfectly but a few times it’s gotten me exactly what I need.
Good luck!
I do the same thing but I use BG1.
I’m planning to modify / tweak in BG1, but I do want to try to get the earliest possible without running all over the park to open up tiers and hopping as soon as possible
No, what I was saying was that I use BG1 in the day(s) before booking to follow real time updates of LLs and what is available before I book. I look 6:7 days out as well as my dates.
Do you think that it’s better to have 1 person book GOTG and 1 book Frozen to get the best times or just do them both in one transaction, since they’re both in the same park?
It never would have occured to me that GOTG goes so fast now that it is standby if I hadn’t seen Becky’s story. At 10 days out sometimes!
Stop the presses! Hold up … you mean GotG sells out 10 days in advance sometimes??? This totally messes with my fall trip where I planned to get LLSP for GotG for days 7+0 and 7+1.
What I’m seeing in the chart above is that it is selling out of morning times at 10 days. But not selling out of all times until 2-3 days. Of course that chart is for current times, doesn’t show historical trends.
In general I think it’s better to just do each day in one transaction. Generally we’re talking in terms of minutes making a difference here for the highest popularity attractions on days 7-10, not seconds.
