The Genie Thread! All WDW Info Here - FOR TRIPS THRU JULY 23, 2024

There’s a survey out asking about proposed changes to G+

Pre-purchase for length of stay, book 3 ahead of time, how far ahead, onsite guest priority and tiers at MK.

They’ve obviously realised G+ is a failure and going back to FP+

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Thanks for this!

Disney did announce that changes are coming to G+ next year to allow more planning ahead.

@len would be very interested in this survey.

Are you able to share a better quality image??

They did, but this is basically reverting to FP+ lock, stock and barrel. With added tiers at MK.

Thee are a lot of people on forums who swore blind they wouldn’t do it……

I’ve always been in the “love FP+” camp. If & when we go back I’d be delighted if they do this!

This would be another shuffle of which guests receive the most LL (fastpass) benefits. [The real issue is lack of top tier attractions with sufficient capacity at Epcot and AK and mid-tier attractions at HS, but WDW isn’t going to change that.]

If I am understanding the potential system correctly, my first reaction is:

(1) Off-site guests are at an extreme disadvantage compared to the current system. On-site guests will each book 3 LLs for multiple days before off-sites get any.

(2) Guests with shorter length of stays will be significantly disadvantaged compared to the current system. The first few days of each guest’s trip, the hardest to get Tier A LLs will likely be gone. The happened with the old FP+ system as SDD and FOP were often not available until the 4th or 5th day of a guest’s stay.

(3) For better or worse, guests with a good undertanding of the current system will not have the same advantages with the new system. Currently, at a park like Epcot, a guest who understands the G+ system well can get LLs for FEA, Remy and TT all in one day, but with the new system the same guest will likely only be able to get 1 LL of FEA, Remy or TT.

(4) While not expressly stated here, I wonder if in connection with this change WDW would go back to 2 ILL attractions in each park. Essentially, WDW would create a disadvantage for certain guests as described above and then monetize a solution to part of the “problem.”

But charging for FP+ this time.

Only allowing one tier A LL all day is so crazy I can’t believe they’ll actually do it. Especially in MK. How many people are going to be willing to pay for that?

I am agnostic to whether Disney will go back to some form of FPP, but I think if they do they should try to take the best of both worlds. Paid FPP IMHO would not be necessarily better for the reasons you cited. But allowing guests to book their first LL of the day in advance instead of 7am, for starters, would be a good incremental change.

How did you get this? On the one hand I like the two and book the next one. I used more LLs this trip then I did FPP. And I like how there’s no tiers. I’m also worried about changes.

My preferred approach would be 100% ILLs, no Genie+ package deal. I’d like to be able to only pay for exactly the rides I want and have a higher probability of it being available, as seems to be the case with most ILLs.

Not many people bought EE ILL, for example, and you likely didn’t need it most days. But if you did need it, it was relatively affordable and available for immediate use.

ETA: I don’t think Disney will do this cause they like complexity for some reason. But a guy can dream.

It’s the tiers I hate.

I also don’t like if it’s tied to length of stay. It was so easy to get SDD this go. Honestly I wish they’d keep as is and just let you book one in advance and you know the price ahead.

I didn’t get the survey, it was posted over on WDWMagic. From the wording it seems it was sent to some guests who had recently bought G+

I did try to see if I could get into it but sadly not lol! I needed a passcode to get in.

But only 1 Tier 1? This decreases the value proposition.

What if you park hop?

This has always been my complaint. Why pay the same and get less?

Then again, they may be surveying multiple options!

I’d like to be able to prepurchase for my whole trip and book one LL for each day in advance. I don’t know if I really want to go back to FPP although I was mad when they took it away.

That’s what isn’t clear.

Also it says you can pre-book one ILL but nothing about whether you can book another one later (after you’ve used the pre-booked one).

@bebe80 I tagged @len over on WDWMagic where he’d predicted pre-purchasing and pre-booking about a week ago. I can’t sharpen up the image but this link might help:

I actually feel sorry for Len and the team if they do go ahead with this, after having so much time and effort updating their software and testing out G+, making the tutorials etc.

Without tiers, the guests with the longest on-site stays would grab everything good under this system and nothing decent would be available until Day 5 or 6 of each guests stay. Instead of guests with short stays missing out on SDD and Remy, they would likely also miss out on FEA, TT, ToT, SM and other top attractions.

Thanks.

Every time I look at a different forum it gives me anxiety

Thankful for the TP forum :slightly_smiling_face:

I second this. It’ already been a rough couple years for the TP software.

I hate the length of stay booking too. I honestly prefer most of G+ then FPP.

Can we see what the tiers would be at the other parks? I don’t see Tiana’s Bayou on here either. Presumably Tier 1?

Agreed. It was disappointing to miss out on FP+ for SDD and FOP under the old system, but at least that was free. Can you imagine the complaints from guests paying $20-$35 per day and missing out on all the top rides?
