The Disney Dish Thread

That is a fascinating slide from what I can make out! Wish I could have been there for that.

Very cool slide!

I do these types of exercises for larger industrial companies. They are fun to do.

Is it a reasonable assumption to think that the character actors only make $25/hr? If so, they are under paid!
Did the star cruiser also offer food? I think that expense/profit is missing, as well.

However, it is a cool cost/benefit analysis!

Also, I hope you slapped Caro’s hand for touching the monitor. !!Finger prints!!

Getting on my soapbox for a brief fit of pique:

In episode 453 Jim and Len indulge pretty excessively in dunking on “The Black Cauldron”.

It’s absolutely deserved. However, it’s worth noting that said film is a wretched adaptation of the most excellent “The Book of Three” youth fantasy series of novels (written in the 60’s by Lloyd Alexander and serving as something of an analogue of “Lord of the Rings” for pre-teens). Winner of a Newberry Medal and various other awards.

It’s a great series and a faithful adaptation would have been wonderful. The despoiling of the property is unforgivable!

The Black Cauldron talk and Princess Eilonwy/Halloween confusion put a partial Danny Elfman parody in my head…

Princess Eilonwy, Princess Eilonwy!
Met with visitors at Disney parks
Princess Eilonwy, no one on a screen
Because this was nineteen eighty five

My kids actually liked The Black Cauldron when we watched it a year or two ago. To be fair, it has its moments…

I actually liked The Black Cauldron. It is fairly well received among myself and my friends. It isn’t the best movie, but still enjoyable for what it is. What it is is entertaining, which is ultimately what you’re looking to get out of a movie.

I came here to say just this and defend my absolute favorite book series frome when I was a preteen. I thought, surely I can’t be alone in loving this series. Better than the Chronicles of Narnia.

Most of the names are Welsh. Eilonwy is Welshish, and she was absolutely ahead of her time for being a powerful princess. She and Taran’s relationship is fantastic. And I always wanted a Gurgi.

I remeber being a bit disappointed by the movie when it came out. And super disappointed when I rewatched it on D+ But that doesn’t stop me from collecting every Gurgi pin I can find (there are about five total) and I almost bought this magic band:

Let’s keep this real: Gurgi rules.

Crunchings and munchings! Snackings and smackings!

Finished this week’s episode this morning…

Len coming in hot with another movie he hasn’t seen (and this one is SHOCKING).

Also, Jim Hill presented an idea for the Tip Top club for Jollywood that I am SOOOO MAD about, because it is such an obviously good idea and instead Disney is making us stand at the ride exit for a ‘party atmosphere’.

Same. They should steal it!!

Anyone else listening to the Keys to the Kingdom podcast that Jim referenced a couple of weeks ago? I am dying after the latest episode! :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::eggplant::eggplant::eggplant::eggplant:

I’ve now watched The Black Cauldron! It wasn’t bad - definitely a lot of similarities with that and other films.

I also appreciated that it wasn’t a musical. I haven’t watched Nightmare Before Christmas because I can’t get past the singing.

Yes, I listened to the episodes available on the iPhone podcase app. Was disappointed there wasn’t many of them, but they were very funny!

Loved Jim’s style and delivery on the latest episode. It’s incredible how he can sound exasperated yet upbeat at the same time. Cracks me up. I’m definitely a “Testa”monial :joy: though.
