The Disney Dish Thread

Heads up: whatever the “glitch” was that was allowing this has been resolved. I am now asked to choose which ressie to dump if I am attempting to create overlapping dining ressies. I had another large party to book for and wanted to do two ressies of 4 but it would not let me do it.

I can’t recall how it is that one selects a different lead guest from the travel party so as to be able to do that. Anyone know??

I always have to log into my husband’s MDE for the second one.

That’s what I’ve done before but others have insisted you just just choose another lead guest for the ADR.

I know it can be done by calling but who wants to do that?? LOL

I’m late to this discussion but have something to add for you and @ThorKat. The girls and I ate at Space 220 Lounge last week. (Definitely helped that it was at the end of our vacation and we were onsite.). Anyway, heard the bartender say that the actual bar itself is open seating. If there’s a seat, you can sit there. Might be a good option for you locals! When we were there (11:30am) there were definitely open seats at the bar.

I think this will certainly help the hoarding! I can’t believe people have 30 seats booked in 1 restaurant for a single meal. That’s nuts. You can still do it but have to jump through additional steps.

I just checked my plans and my 2 overlapping ones are still there though. I’m not a hoarder per se but I do have 15 ADRs and will likely only keep 10. 1 is 2 different times for Oga’s depending on whether F! back yet. I is 2 different days of breakfast on rest days–we may keep both, we may cancel 1, TBD. And the other 2 are overlaps bc I can’t decide if I want what I actually want or if I will give it up and go where my kids will actually eat.

The My DVC Points podcast just had an interview with the guy behind one of these groups. Maybe it was Mouse Dining? It was pretty interesting.

I don’t think this was ever really a source of the hoarding though. It didn’t used to be possible, and seemed to be an exception or a glitch to the way things were operating over about the last 3-4 weeks.

It can be done but they have to be linked in MDE or control that persons profile.
It has to be done from the desktop:
Find the reservation you want
After it asks you if you want add ons (like cakes) It will ask you “Who will manage this reservation?”
The MDE account you’re in will always be the default name, but in the dropdown menu it will allow you to choose another person from your Friends and Family List
Choose the person.
Proceed with the reservation as usual.

It won’t even let me get to this point. It sees the guest has another ressie booked and asks which one to keep.

Here is an example I ran just now using one of my own personal reservations. I am on a desktop, not the app. I know I have the La Hac reservation, when I search for options at that same time I get this:

If I select the 5:00 slot at Olivias this comes up on the screen:

No option to select a different lead guest.

Thoughts?

OHHHH thats why!! You have to book the alternate lead guest reservation FIRST. Once you book with the MDE owner as a lead guest, it won’t let you do it.

Oh thank you!!’

Apparently it’s allowing existing overlapping ADRs to stay though. I have a couple cases like that. Luckily it didn’t just auto drop stuff that had conflicts. I will be dropping on my own soon since I’m finalizing some things this weekend.

Yes, that is true. But I did have one guest - another large party I booked a bit ago - who cancelled their trip and I could not cancel those reservations online. I had to call to cancel those. All of the others were canceled online without issue. That was a couple of weeks ago now.

ah, perhaps–but it definitely made it easier. It is a definite bummer for when you need multiple ADRs to split big groups though.

Oh crap. Obviously thier IT can’t handle such a thing.

Thanks for the heads up.

@len I couldn’t help but laugh when you said that next week you would cover all the park news from D23. It wasn’t a happy laugh really, just a little sad one because you said it with such hope and conviction. Knowing what we know now, the whole conversation about the difference between California Disney and Florida Disney and how they are treated really drove that home.

I really didn’t understand the alleged story of Gary Sinise and Mission Space, and couldn’t seem to find any record of it online. Any way to explain further?

Yeah seemed like they cut that part out. Or just skipped it. I’m curious as well.
