So, the fam is heading back to the World in November. We have done T-giving there a few times prior (really like that time of year). For food on Thanksgiving we have done LTT in MK, Cali Grill and we even did a Via Napoli one time on a super impromptu quick planned trip (Weird choice I know). We will be in MK the day of. Just wondered if anyone has done something neat for Thanksgiving they could share. My wife loves the turkey legs from Liberty Square Market area. But trying to think of something cool for the whole family. We will be back in MK a few days later for MVMCP so we can always cut out early if needed to jump over to somewhere neat. Any ideas?
I bet Garden Grill in Epcot or Prime Time in HS would be fun for Thanksgiving.
That is a creative idea for sure!
Liberty Tree Tavern or The Crystal Palace for a classic Thanksgiving feel, or 'Ohana at Disneyâs Polynesian Village Resort for a fun island twist.
You could go to the Grand Floridian Cafe-def not as fancy or cool as Ohana, but I did quite a lot of research and they do offer a traditional thanksgiving meal, and so easy to get to from MK. And the GF lobby with the pianist and Xmas decorations and atmosphere would make it feel quite elegant and special I think even though not signature dining.
I set my sights on Prime Time, but we will likely be in HS.
Caveat: my trip isnât till â25, but Iâm planning it now, and will put on ice in a week or so and come back to it right before DVC payment time in Dec.
Please post a trip report when you get back. We were there Thanksgiving week 2015, but we were offsite. We were at MK in the AM, then napped, thd. went to seasons 52 for Thanksgiving dinner (it was excellent!!) and then returned for FWs, and late night snd stayed thru park closure. It was memorable and magical!
Love this idea. Thanks for sharing. We are still leaning toward Cali since it a favorite but that would be a fun lunch at the Cafe.
We will definitely share our trip. Sounds like you have a great one planned.
Hard to beat Cali on any day - maybe someday we will get there. We had to cancel our ADR in 2015.
My challenge is 75% of my crew wants a traditional thanksgiving meal on that day - and if Iâm at Cali or another fine restaurant, I want everyone to order off the regular menu, lol-b/c all I can think of is the opportunity cost of ordering a traditional Turkey meal, even with a foodie overlay, at a signature restaurant.
My neurotic thoughts: âDonât they realize they are giving up ordering (insert âepically good steak, or sushi, or scallops or sea bassâ) as the trade off, âŚfor Turkey?â Of course they donât, and wouldnât (and obviously 100% shouldnât. They want what they want. Itâs their meal and holiday.
I initially had a lot of energy around going to the Boathouse on thanksgiving, and setting aside the logistical hassle of getting to/from DS, here again, I would want my family to enjoy the food itâs known for.
But no way my Mom or kids will forego basic Turkey and stuffing, sigh.
Curious how Liberty Tavern was? Did you get seated promptly?
I completely understand about the traditional food. It would be hard to come by at many places in Disney. Cali Grill did kind of a different version of the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. It was awesome but not what your people are looking for. Liberty Tree was good. We did wait to be seated for maybe 20 minutes. Not bad. Itâs hard for me to eat such a big meal in the middle of a park day like we did. And with full disclosure, I live in Southetn Virginia where we grew up with the same menu. So LTT isnât really anything special. We were used to gravy and ooey gooey pie
but for a Thanksgiving dinner, LTT is arguably the best choice.
