What company do you suggest for stroller and car seat rental? The three companies suggested by Touring Plans and the Unofficial Guide (Kingdom Strollers, Orlando Strollers, Magic Strollers) don’t ten car seats, and getting both from the same company should make the process of renting and returning easier.
The one time we’ve rented a stroller in Orlando, we were able to do it as add-on to a boking for a private transfer with an Away We Go van. They do provide car seats for rides you book with them, but I don’t think they rent car seats out individually (but they were great to work with in setting up the ride & rental & a case of water). So that would be the closest you’d get to a one-stop shop.
If you need a car seat for a rental car though, the only way I know of getting it is through the rental agency (or bringing your own). I don’t know that I’ve ever heard of any companies that individually rent out car seats. And I can’t imagine that there would be a way to deliver them to you at arrivals at the airport.
And all of the stroller rentals are easily able to meet you at your resort to drop it off at the start and pick up and the end of the trip. That way you don’t also have to transport it in whatever car or transportation you get (one less thing to carry especially if you’ll be lugging car seats already too). There’s only one of those companies (I think it’s Kingdom Strollers) that can leave the stroller at the front desk for you to pick up at your convenience, without meeting you up, every other company else has to have the guest meet them up. We only booked a one-way ride with Away We Go so to return the stroller to them we had to meet up with a driver at the resort and it was easy to coordinate and they arrived right in the timeframe I’d told them would be best for us.
It might feel more convenient for booking & paying to have one company do both, but I do think the logistics of getting both to you at once aren’t going to be so straightforward and that might be better to have as the simple part so you’re only having to manage the minimum amount of all the stuff possible.
Yes, what is this scenario for renting the car seat? Won’t you need it immediately? We use a transportation company that provides carseats or a rental car with a carseat add on. If for some reason you don’t need it immediately at arrival, I would do a same day delivery of a cheap one from Walmart or Target to the hotel. You can get them for around $60.
I don’t imagine you’ll find a car seat only rental because they won’t know if it’s been compromised in an accident.
Scenario is wife and I are driving down but kids and grandkids are flying. Will be renting a van when we get there.
There are places that rent car seats in Orlando, but looking for advice from those who has used them.
Why not bring the car seat down with you when drive? I would not trust a rental as you have no idea the history of the seat. It could have been dropped or in accident and therefore the safety compromised.
ETA - Another option that we love is this -
I’d have them check their own car seats as luggage. It can’t cost much than renting.
As far as strollers go, I always used Kingdom Strollers and just had them deliver it to our rental house.
This is a great idea as well. Even cheaper than checking as luggage. Just throw them away when you are done.
I would definitely just buy inexpensive ones and install before they get there. Car seat rentals from the rental car company are going to be about $15/day. Not sure about companies that rent them direct. So, I guess it just depends on how long you’ll be there. They can gate check their carseats for free. We do not gate check our regular carseats though because they will probably get thrown around. I will gate check a cheap one that is specifically for the trip.
