How do points work if you book a single reservation that crosses your Use Year?
For example, I am contemplating a reservation for February 28 - March 2 (2 nights) with a February use year. Will all the points have to be 2024 points, or will only the February 28 points be 2024 and the March 1 be 2025 points? Do I need to book each night separately to avoid an issue?
You can’t book a reservation that crosses your use year.
You’ll need to book two reservations and ask Member Services to merge them into one. Or ask them to book for you.
Each night will have to use “current” use year points - although you can of course use banked or borrowed points. Maybe “valid points for the use year” is a better description.
Thanks! I was wondering if that might be the case. I guess it makes it less likely I will get both nights if there’s any scarcity. I’ll find out soon enough.
Oh that is probably correct. For some reason I was thinking my use year ended February 28th but it is a “February” use year by name so if that is the way it works then my question is moot.
The is the first time I am considering booking around that time so it is the first time I’ve thought about this question.
It is possible you will need to bank 2024 points into 2025 for this reservation, if you had already planned to use at least some 2024 points.
Your underlying question is a good one, regardless, because we were pondering doing our December 2025 trip where we arrived actually arrived in November. We’ll probably arrange it so we use our SSR points for the first half…but if we wanted to use our Boardwalk points first, we would be facing a similar problem since Boardwalk is a December use year.
Thankfully (?) I have no 2024 points left so I was going to borrow from 2025 for part of it. But I am almost out of 2025 points and will have to borrow from 2026, so I wanted to make sure I could do that for at least the one later night.
It’s my Aulani trip this October! I’m staying five nights in a 2BR ocean view and it’s … a lot. But this trip is the express reason I bought one of my contracts.
