Stop the presses- Contemporary art available!

Ooh! That’s cool. I remember seeing the artwork there and wishing it was available for purchase. Only bummer is that the print is so wide. I will have to take a gander when we are there, though!

I really like that collage.

It looks like right now it’s just the two panoramic prints. The fantasyland collage is the one I really wanted when I first saw them. I could take or leave the monorail. I’m hoping they expand the selection to include the other artwork in the rooms. The Partners and Liberty Square are 2 I would consider. The Tomorrowland one is cute too with the little flying Buzz.

I’ll be staying there this coming weekend and will look. I think it would be under a differemt category since those designs are contemporary specific. Happy these are available!

Ok, this is cool! I am seeing these kiosks are at other resorts, as well.

So the stupid question: If these are meant to be purchased on a kiosk to be shipped home, why can I not find a place to order them online?

That is the most annoying part! It’s like they’re trying to capitalize on the lack mentality of the vacationer — get it now before you can’t —- but completely forgetting about all of us at home that would buy it without being at Disney. It’s so short sighted.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Disney seems to have a thing for making “exclusive” items. It drives a kind of herd mentality (that makes it sound more negative than I mean it) where people fork over money just because they can.

People stay in the rooms, and go, “It would be cool to own this artwork!” So, now they offer it. But why only on-site? Because they HOPE that not only can then get you to buy it, but perhaps even book another stay at Disney to get access to it!!!

Ultimately, does it work out in their favor? I’m guessing it does…or at least some level of calculation tells them it does. Of course, I know what you’re thinking (not really)…you aren’t going to book a stay just to buy some art work! But…there may be enough people who WILL.

There could also be a more pragmatic (and more likely) reason…art work on websites NEVER looks the same as it does in person. And these are custom orders. So, does Disney want to sell someone something on-line, and pay a pretty penny for it, only for that person to receive it and feel it doesn’t look like they thought it would on-line? By only offering it in person, where people can see samples of the art in person can Disney prevent this from happening.

That is a valid point and not one that I had thought of.

If you happen to see an Adventureland print please let me know. I LOVED that art work from the new Contemporary rooms, even if the Tiki bird was out of place.
Do you have to be staying there to purchase it though?

That’s fair! I do want to get a print from The Boardwalk of something we saw in the room. I just don’t want to have to go all the way to The Boardwalk to look for it

I love the new BLT art! I would buy a postcard set immediately if offered.

(I also want one of those teal accent pillows. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:)

If staying there is the consideration, I’ll try to find a 1 day rental, lol. IF they have that particular one. But I would love to see it an what it costs. If reasonable, I would gladly pay a liner all the costs.

I have to think that Disney would take our money as long as we got to the gift shop, regardless of where we’re staying. I guess they do check for DVC / AP sometimes, but that’s mostly for limited merchandise?

I will have some time on my actual birthday (Nov. 2nd) before heading into MK. This whole trip is a birthday present but really, what’s one more thing. I think I will check the shops anyway!

I stop at those kiosks every time I see them. The only requirement is ordering from the physical location. You don’t even need to be a resort guest. The other thing is that each resorts specific art is only available at that resort. So Boardwalk art avail at the BW kiosk, Riviera art avail at the RR, etc. Besides liner friends doing favors, there an IG account of a woman (maybe former cast member?) that is a personal Disney shopper. Prob she could order for someone at home, but I don’t know what her fees are. Also, I want her job
