Stay at Disney, visit Universal?

I’m planning to take my DD15 and her BFF for a whirlwind trip to Universal to do all of the Harry Potter stuff. We are only planning to send one very full day in the park. How convenient/inconvenient would it be for us to stay on Disney property for the night before and the night of our park day? I’ve never done this before, but we are Disney Passholders and can get really good rates at the All-Stars hotels. Also, any recs for which All-Stars are the best? My other option would be to stay at Cabanna Bay on Universal Property. But it would cost over $100 more. TIA.

It’s not inconvenient, we’ve done it lots of times.

It will be fine! You can drive over and park or take an Uber/Lyft.

If you choose an All-Star resort, make sure to get one that’s been refurbished.

Buildings 6-10 (at a minimum) have been refurbished at All-Star Movies.

If it’s not too much more, I prefer Pop Century. All rooms at Pop Century are refurbished, and they have a good food court, easy bus stop, plus you can walk to Art of Animation to eat as well. Pop is also on the Skyliner, if they get that running before your trip.

We did it first week of April. Lyft is cheaper, and was fast and convenient.

It’s a 25 - 30 minute trip. Pretty easy. I just did the reverse… 4 days at Universal and 1 day at MK. It was great.
