I rode it once toward the back, and once toward the front. I liked it way better in back because you can actually see what is going on, and it looks like you are part of the racing team. In the front, much of the “animated” parts are behind you and you can’t see them. You feel more alone.
I’ll ride it again. But I won’t wait long for it. In January, we will probably pay for a LL because my DS15 will be with us and he hasn’t ridden it yet.
I will join the guinea pigs team. I don’t have an strategy yet for my early entry xD plan told me to go to space mountain instead of 7 dwarves and I’ve seen videos of 7 dwarves and I believe for me it’s enough with the rope drop of Pandora in AK. Don’t need the stress in MK too. I will wait whatever it’s needed for 7 dwarves, hopefully less the first day as it’s party day. Btw, how difficult is to get a VQ for GotG?
For the 7am VQ, you have about 3 seconds before they are all gone, so you need to be ready at exactly 7:00:00am and push the button right then. Check out the Advanced Strategy thread in the La Cava section of the forum if you want to try using BG1, which is a different interface that is easier to use.
For the 1pm VQ, it’s not hard at all. You just have to join at 1:00pm and the VQ is often open for several minutes or even hours.
When I went with my kids (23 and 20 at the time) in July 2023, we rode it twice - VQ and ILL. I told them to ask for the front row, but they did not and my older daughter didn’t care for it. We went back at night and I insisted they ride in the front row, and she loved it! I agree that you can’t see the video parts as well, but the thrill is incredible. You need to try for the front row, not just “toward the front” to get the full effect. Of course, YMMV.
As a roller coaster enthusiast, I know the benefits of front row. But having been on over 100 coasters, the idea of waiting extra time for the front row has lost its appeal.
Having said that, no front row experience would suddenly make me want to ride it more.
I’ll be there on the 8th and 10th. I wonder if some people will linger over near it and wait for the line to open at 9 am, assuming that is when it opens. I guess my plan on the 10th would be to hit Space Mountain at 8:30 and then see if Tron is accepting anyone into the line.
I have an LLSP for 9:30 am that day. I’ll be interested to see how many times I can ride it on this trip. With LLSPs and the various VQs I was planning to use, I estimated that I would ride it 6-7 times between LLSP and VQs, with 3-4 of those being VQs. My hope is that the deluxe hours on the 11th will have some good availability to hit it a few times.
That definitely seems dumb. When we were there this spring we went here first thing with BG1 and I was shocked at how much excess capacity was being wasted. I definitely felt like if they opened up a standby line that plenty of people would rope drop it and they would get more riders through in the course of a day. I will never understand why 30 minutes even matters to Disney in terms of staffing.
I believe Remy was always open during EE amd was never an ILL. It’s the not being included in EE (which was what I was responding to, but that’s tough to tell because I don’t quote) not ending the virtual queue that makes me feel this way.
