Update: we are doing it! We are doing 4 nights at AOA lion king suites and 4 nights at PORFQ. I’m so excited!! Hoping the bag move goes smoothly as we plan to go to Epcot in between

I would have preferred to go the other way from smaller room to suite, but husband wanted value to moderate, and I wanted him to go along, so that’s what we did.

Bumping. This is great information. We are driving to Florida and staying 2 nights at Pop and then moving to AKL. Those of you who drive what is the best way to handle getting the car to the new location? Do you drop it off the night before you make the switch or?? I guess we could just take the bus back to Pop when we break for the afternoon the day of the switch.
Also, how early will bell services meet us? I like to get out of the room as soon as possible in the AM.

This is my suggestion based on two scenarios.
1 - if you want to drive to the park - pile everyone in, have the bags moved by disney to the new resort and then drive to AKL
2 - if you don’t want to drive to the park. One person (or whole family) piles into the the car with the bags and drops off at AKL. Take the bus to the park that day. If you decide to split you can always just meet up at the park.
If you are moving to AKL and not going to AK for the day of transition my suggestion would basically be.
1 - check out and have Disney move the bags
2 - take anything you MUST have - medication, bathing suits etc in case there is a delay
3 - drive to the park of choice
4 - drive to AKL for break
Is there a reason you would not drive to the park for the day? The safest and easiest thing would be to move your luggage to AKL in the morning and then drive to the park.
We ended up just moving our bags ourselves. That was the easiest thing. We packed up that morning, drove over to the new resort and hopped on a bus to Epcot until our room was ready.
Is there a reason you didn’t drive to EP?
I was thinking we would take transport to the new park, take transport back to the new hotel, and send Dad to get the Car while we get our swimsuits on and head to the pool I planned a late lunch that day at sci fi, so I don’t think we’ll get there until near 3. Call for luggage at bell hop at some point.
Does it matter how late you get back from the park to the 2nd resort for Bell service to bring the luggage?
No reason to drive to the park when the busses are there.

No! We were at DHS the day of one of our moves. Stayed for emh for a while, got back to the resort about 11pm. Just phoned bell services then.
