Spirit - no more change or cancel fees

received an email this afternoon from Spirit Airlines – no change or cancel fees for all guests! Now when your travel plans change, your ticket can too. Applies to all future flights and you have a full year to use your travel credit. (in the past I would have opt to buy a small adder fee that would allow me to change if needed, but now it appears free option going forward for everyone!)

Now, if they’d stop nickel & diming everything until you are paying as much as SW I’d use them!

I guess I could try wearing a few days worth of clothes all at once to avoid the upcharges. I’ll be at the TSA line like this

OMG did you just see me posting in Uncensored?

I was just asking that question in chat. It got fun too

Don’t pick your seat
Don’t check a bag
Don’t bring a carry-on

There. Saved you a ton of money

Can/will only fly Spirit when these conditions apply for me.

I do a lot of girl day trips, where we fly out 530am and fly home at midnight, or just stay one night…so the Spirit flights with just a small backpack work for me. I like the idea of being able to change with no fee, because if the weather looks bad, we can change to another day.

I would fly spirit again and would pay for the big comfy seats upfront if they were reasonably priced and I only had to pay for 1 pag per whole party.

I can pack for a long weekend in a backpack, so if I see a Spirit flight to Orlando for <$130 r/t (or more than $100 less than Delta/American if I need a bag) then I jump right on it. I love the late nonstop down on a Thursday or Friday night and then nonstop back at stupid o’clock on Monday or Tuesday that lands in time for me to get to work just a little bit late.

I’ve been toying with doing that this summer. There’s a 5:45AM flight to MCO (could be in the park by 9:00 or 9:30) and a 10:30PM one back home to SDF.

I’ve taken the stupid early flight from Detroit on a Saturday morning, dropped my bags and been in a park before 9:00am for sure. I just prefer to come in late the night before so I can avoid such a long day in the parks.

The only available flights to/from MCO for me are only Tues. & Thurs. - So I have to be able to stay a weekend or just do a single day… Right now I can fly SW w/ 2 bags for around $285 - $315…

I’ve looked into Frontier & Spirit. For all the hoops you jump through to get a “deal” it isn’t worth it for me… :man_shrugging:

We fly Spirit on Saturday and am holding my breath already until we touch down.
If I ever have a Liner meet with any of y’all, I may have the best Spirit story ever. Consider this the tease!

Advice my sister gave me this year:
“Don’t fly Spirit, or you might become one.”

I’ve flown them three round trip flights. I had one flight home be significantly delayed but there were storms and MCO was FULL of people who had flight delays and cancellations. The other five legs have been great. I use them for trips where we can get everything in a personal item–so usually 4 days max but I’ve had friends do a 7 day trip in a personal item.

I was impressed with how nice their planes were. Their crew was really friendly. Seats were fine. I’ve not paid for seats yet and when I check in everyone has been seated together.

Spirit flies every day from my home airport in Louisville, KY to MCO daily, sometimes twice a day. The most I’ve paid for a round trip flight is $67. There’s a $40 round trip I’m considering for a fly in/fly out in one day.

There really aren’t any hoops if you can pack in a personal item. Spirit has been great for short trips.

Southwest is $275 to $375 round trip for me on average. Sometimes, I can get it for under $200 if I constantly stalk the website. That to me is bigger hoop ( the constant checking for price drops) than booking a super cheap flight on Spirit which ranges from $40 to $67 round trip.

Awesome!

Sadly, I only have 2 flight options per week that are both mid-week… I’m happy it works for you! GL!

Spirit is one of the airlines that’s never had a fatality incident, though. They haven’t even had major safety-related incidents.

We saved over $1k compared to SW, including paying for seats and a checked bag for everyone. SW prices have been a lot higher lately.

Agree, With just two flights, that’s really not an option then.

:100:
I’m flying them in 2 hours to MCO. I’ve had much better luck with them than with Southwest.

Nope, and I have to believe the pilot and crew don’t want to die either. They are as safe as any other airline. They have to meet standards just like everyone else.
