Solo Trip Report May 25-June2 Highlights & not so great

Trip Report WDW 2026-05

This was my 3rd solo trip to WDW, and the first one since 2023 (which was really short)

I stayed almost 9 days at the Grand Floridian, because the Bubble.. I love the GF’s theming, the dining and especially the close location to MK and easy access to the other parks.

In short: it was everything and even more than I’d dared hope..

I had 3 day park tickets with PH spaced it out as follows:

· Day 1 was check in day MK and then hop over to EP because EEH at EP

· Day 3 was second Park day with AK first and then hop over to MK also EEH at MK

· Day 6 was AHP at HS

· Day 8 was third Park day starting at AK and then hop over to MK for finale farewell

In between I went to DS and had about 1,5 full resort days to just rest & chill and soaking up the vibes. I did resort hop to the Contemporary and the Polynesian for Dining and checkinh out merch.

Highlights:

· CL2 day at MK: soooo many walk on possibilities for my favorite rides

· Frozen (1st time): I really enjoyed it!

· LL for AK ILL for FOP: it was really worth it to me. It made life so much easier and I got to ride everything I wanted with minimum waits. I used the rest of the time for wandering about in AK which is one of my favorite things to do.

· Villains ever after (HS 1st time): It was fun times but especially the Tech used for this show was amazing! Smoke bubbles!!!

· Prime Rib at Steakhouse71: THE BEST

· Poke Bowl at Wailulu: soo sooo yummy and the price was even better!

· Churros at Nomad Lounge AK: do need to explain?

· Breakfast at Satulee Canteen: hands down best breakfast (Fritatta) I’ve had inside and outside the parks?

· Lunch at Jungle Navigation: still as good as ever. I had the duck fried rice.

· Waking up at GF: soaking in the views of the grounds, same thing before going to sleep.

· Sam’s Grotto: as great as I remembered and the cocktail I had (Zombie) was fantastic

· Geo-82 cocktails & fireworks (not the party): Bee’s Knees cocktail & the tuna bites were delish. Very classy & comfortable and we even had a view of the fireworks from the bar. No need to pay extra for the FW Party!

· AH at HS: was worth it for the low waiting time. I rode ROTR finally for the first time (previous visit it had broken down and we left the next day) I have to say (do not come at me) it is one of the weirder rides hahaha I did enjoy MFR!

No-so-great:

· My room’s location at the GF: I had a room in Sago Cay right above the Housekeeping pantry and right around the corner of the maintenance or F&B delivery entrance so at very early in the morning or random times there would be a lot of noise from trucks, machines, transportation etc. So get rooms that are either higher up (I was on the second floor) or higher number (I was 11  5211)

· EEH at EP: it was so dark and so much was just closed including Soarin’ which I didn’t get to ride, I was so bummed about that!

· The rib eye steak at the Boathouse: it was a far cry from the quality I enjoyed at S71

· The wine/drink prices: and then adding tips starting now at 18%! I am not a US resident, so the Tipping culture is very extreme to me and adds significantly to the overall cost of a meal/drink. At least the service was good everywhere.

· Beak & Barrel: I am a HUGE POC and JC Fan, basically Adventureland is my jam. So I was very excited to visit. I managed to book a reservation. However, once I checked in it still took about 20 minutes to get inside and I basically got a narrow shelf against the wall which made it awkward to see the action over at the Bar. I don’t know, it just didn’t do it for me. Oga’s was better, though the cocktail was very much “meh”…

All in all, I had an amazing time, it was magical and I have charged my batteries again with some magic. Planning my next visit! If there is any specific information I could help anybody with, do let me know, I will do my best to answer. Have a magical day all!

Oh yes! I initially wanted to provide a more detailed Trip Report, but it turned into a book by Day 1 :see_no_evil_monkey: sooo… decided to keep it brief and possibly useful for others… But it truly was magical :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I did book a bounce back offer 30% for next year and today I heard I might be attending a conference in Orlando in October and guess what… Yep, booked a short stay at the Poly
But nobody knows yet  OMG

Agree! We are a family of 4 but have taken our kids to all kinds of lounges in and out of the parks. Ogas we love and prefer the standing bar. We haven’t been assigned to a standing table yet but have done the seated shared table with strangers and… not our fave, give us the bar anyday. Beak and Barrel seems like much more seated shared tables which is a shame. Some focus group consultant somewhere must have told them that people would mix and mingle, but that’s not our experience. At B&B, we were seated in the back captains room thing with limited view next to strangers and to be honest it was enough that it will probably be a pass from here on out. Drinks were good though.

Yeah.. not sure if I set the bar too high, being the Pirates fan that I am, but is was pretty disappointing. And the being on a timer is also a bummer, I get why, but we’re in the parks so who wants to spend more than an hour at a bar anyways… hmm I take that back hahaha but still, it does make you feel rushed. Sam’s grotto and Lindsey’s more than make up for B&B!
