Skiing/Snowboarding in CO

Hi! I am looking for any advice for a spring break trip to CO for some skiing and snowboarding. We’ll be going sometime the first half of March 2025. We will be 3 families - 7 adults and 8 kids (12, 11, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 4). One of the families lives in Denver, the other two will be driving in from Texas. The family of 3 from Denver will probably not be with us the entire time. Ideally, we’d all stay in a 3 or 4 bedroom place together., but we don’t have to. We’re looking to ski, snowboard, tube, and whatever other fun family activities we can find. Any input is appreciated. We aren’t sold on any particular resort at this point.

Thanks!

I don’t have wealth of experience with CO, but I have done Vail and Copper Mtn. (Whistler as well, but that’s off topic).
I would absolutely go back to Copper, we loved the resort and the mountain istelf. It is big enough and has “back- country” areas yet still feels small and homey (if that makes sense).
One of my favorite boarding memories was hiking up to the ridge above the lift and dropping into the bowl that received a fresh dumping of snow the night before. The snow would entirely engulf you on each cutback, it was like surfing. Such a different experience for us East Coasters.
Great glades as you had back into the tree line as well!

Vail just seemed too fancy for us and significantly more expensive. The mountain is great, much bigger but there were a few spots that if you didn’t keep you speed on a snowboard, you’d be stuck walking for a bit.

I think Vail is a little too rich for our blood too! Half the kids have never skied/boarded before, and another 2 have only been on one ski trip.

Copper Mountain is on our radar, so thank you for that feedback!!
