Single Day Solo Trip Plan

Thanks. Definitely will need to look ahead at Pym menu. Glad to hear it’s not a reservation. That looks neat. I’m not a huge avengers fan and would leave characters mostly for a family trip but I would love to catch the Spiderman animatronic show that Grant Imahara worked on. So those are some good points.

It will list the showtimes in the app - filter to entertainment and it’s the little icon at/on WebSlingers. The crowd gathers pretty early, but it’s easy to see from anywhere in the general area. Super short show.

Followon Question for the TP Hivemind: If I can do 8am to 8pm only for one day, is it still worth buying the park hopper. The only Ride I really would be disappointed missing is Mission Breakout…

Is it worth it just to have the additional quantity of G+ choices?

For me, if I only had one day, I’d pick one park or the other. I feel like I’d be too stressed if I was going to be going back and forth.

But if you want to hit some things in both parks, I’d either start at DCA and hit M:B first thing OR I’d grab a LL fir M:B as soon as I got scanned into DL, then hit some headliners there before hopping at 1. If you do that, the LL for M:B will auto-convert to 1-2pm. (At DL/DCA they go strictly in time order - none ot this refreshing for a much later time that seems to be how it’s happening at WDW.)

Considering doing the same thing as you, have been lurking on this post since the beginning. Any chance you will be going before June? Would love to know how your plan works out and to see if you would make any changes. Just riding on your coat tails! HA

I’m going mid April, Currently its saying low crowds, but I’m very skeptical since its during LA Schools Spring Break week. I’ll post a trip report on how things go. I’m currently learning the tips and tricks over at Disboards, There is a good thread over there about fishing for Extra LL passes by booking downed rides as well as rope drop strategies.

I will wait and learn! Thanks!

So Lines recommends rope dropping space mountain vs Indiana Jones (pretty much every other source). Interesting to say the least.

Indy is a frequent offender for not being running at park open so I would agree with TP to get Space done first before coming back to the West side of the park. And I would also agree with doing BTM second as it’s one that usually stays pretty flow flowing/low wait for the first 30-45 minutes (and then starts to build, but is relieved again by about 60-90 min. after opening when they add on more trains). And by then Indy should be rearing and ready to go and still not have built a long wait.

PLUS I never mind a bit of a wait in the Indy queue. In fact, if anything, the last 4-5 times I’ve ridden, it’s been much too short of a wait to really appreciate the queue (or walk-on because we ride it a lot in the last hour of the park as by then the too-short littles are crashed in the stroller). I like at least a 20-25 min. wait to be able to fully appreciate the details of the queue, but that is just me and the queue for me on that ride is one I absolutely love and adore. I do suspect that 12 minutes is a little short & I would think 25 would be more accurate (even if a delay in opening has occurred). Also, it’s at least 8-10 min. to walk the length of the queue through all the areas of the temple and then through the loading area, so a 12 min. wait means very little wait/resistance in all of that (which is possible at 8:47, but would have to be a fairly low crowd and/or the ride is just now opening after most of the waves of crowds who arrived at park opening have passed it by to come back to later since it wasn’t open first).

Much appreciated feedback. Enjoying the Queue is a good point as thats one of things I dislike with Genie at WDW LL entrances.

The good news in DL is that there aren’t really any LL’s that skip any of extensively themed parts of the queues. Out west they make the schills filling the standby queue stand almost exclusively in outdoor queues where you are looking at the ride exterior from with maybe slightly themed garden bed in between the rails or or ropes forming the queue.

Trip update. Overall the trip went really well and I didn’t have too many issues.

7:15 security, and gate arrival

7:30 Gates and moved to right hand side of rope drop to tomorrow land (booked Indy G+) [Highly Recommend you look up ‘fishing for LLEP’ threads] Bough G+ ILL$ for Radiator Springs Races (not worth it, soloQ was shorter)

FYI Rope drop was much more relaxed than at WDW.

8:00 Rope dropped and followed a nice family over to Space mountain (pretty cool queue compared to FL) I would side the ride was about the same as Florida other than that.
in sequence (only standby) I was able walk right on to Matterhorn (not super impressed), then Alice, Then Mr. Toad. (4 attractions so far)

9:00 Cancelled Indy prior to loosing it and rebooked for SM as it was now down. Walked through Sleeping Beauty Castle (Actually really cool IMHO, I can’t understand why we cant have that in FL)
9:15 G+ onto SM (it was up now) [way wetter than FL); and got another immediate G+ for HM [Aside from preshow and hatbox, identical to FL?]; then a break to get Beignets and Mint Julep.
9:45 booked Indy G+ and got on the DL Railroad (way cooler than FL)
10:15 Indy (Why do we have Dinosaur instead of this? Amazing.) Booked 11:00 ROTR (It was an easy G+ to get, and I just went for it anyways) Booked 11:45 BTM

10:45 Walked onto Smugglers Run soloQ (maybe 5 minutes)
11:10 Walked onto G+ ILL$ for ROTR (maybe 5 minutes)
11:30 Galaxy’s edge walkthrough

11:45 BTM G+ (wait was about 15 minutes in LL) (12 Attractions)

Here I booked at 1:45 GOTG G+ (I’m almost definitely sure I did because I also set my 2 hour timer)

12:15pm Lunch at Jolly Holliday to get a Matterhorn Pastry
12:30pm Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln
1:00pm Hopper to DCA; Radiator Springs Racers (about a 15 minute ILL$ Wait, RSR is what they should have replaced Test Track with when they upgraded, its really good.)

**1:30pm Noticed I no longer had my GOTG G+ Pass. **
Quickly booked Soarin’ for 4PM instead to start stacking for after a break. I asked a CM who basically shrugged me off and said “you lose your G+ passes when you hop from DL to DCA” I don’t think this is true though.

1:45 SoloQ Web Slingers (about a 30 minute wait, Basically Spiderman TSM, but theming and preshow is super cool)

2:30 SoloQ Grizzly River run (Cool raft ride, Kali is probably better though and less cramped on the raft) (16 attractions)

3:00 I had a Beer Tasting Session which was ok and pretty good considering only $25.

3:15-4:45 I took a break back to the hotel to rehydrate and call the family. Booked GOTG for 5:45

4:45 Soarin’ G+ (Its OK outside of Patrick Warburton); Couldn’t stack G+ like in WDW, you have to use all passes first. Also are bare feet on Soarin’ ok?

5:15 Philharmagic Break (theater was empty)

5:45 GOTG G+ (Going to get hate, but this is nearly as good at ToT, probably top ride to me at DL) Booked Incredicoaster G+ (20 Attractions)

6:30 Incredicoaster gets Cancelled twice rewarding LLEPs (Use anywhere)
7:15 Walked through Avengers Campus, cars land, hollywood land and met some characters that were out. (Moonknight)

8:00 StandbyQ for Monsters Inc (45 minutes, longest wait all day)

8:15 Walk to Pixar Pier, never got any passes and decided to start heading out to Downtown Disney, park was way crowded at this point. Pixar pier is also basically Dinoland + crowds and I wasn’t a huge fan of anything there solo.
9:00 Grabbed some food and made my way back to DL.
9:30 Star Tours G+
9:50 Buzz G+
10:15 Snow White G+
10:30 Pinnochio G+
10:45 Small World Walk on

(All in- 26 Attractions)

11:00 Completely too tired, did some Mainstreet photos, castle, shopping, etc. down main street and headed out.

Overall I was blown away with just how much I was able to do in a day, and this was on a bit more crowded day and I didn’t get as many LLEP as I had hoped.

The morning was way better, everyone was friendly and rides and queues were much more relaxed. By 8pm people were getting upset at each other and there wasn’t much room to walk anymore.

I would honestly recommend doing 8am-1pm then return at like 9pm-midnight and do 2 days , 1 park each. I just didn’t have the time for this.

To answer some of my own questions for the benefit of others:

  • Uber from LAX-> Disneyland was $60 for single person and took about 40 minutes early in the AM with no traffic. Arrive at 7-7:15 for best positioning.
  • G+ first pick should try to be something thats closed to get a LLEP, enough rides don’t immediately fill up like at Florida until 10AM.
  • Best food was the Mint Julep place between Pirates and Haunted Mansion.
  • Trader Sam’s is ridiculously far away from the park and through 2 security checkpoints. I honestly wouldn’t bother with it unless you don’t plan to go back to the park. I cancelled my reservation I got on the way there realizing I wouldn’t make it back to the park in less than 2 hours round trip.
  • Pixar Pier and DCA in general is tough to navigate once crowded and at night. It’s basically parts of Epcot, HS and AK all mixed together.

WOW! Thanks for the report and loved reading about your awesome day!

Glad you had a successful day, thanks for the report.

That is definitely not true!

Sure you can. We were just there 4/3-6 and had them stacked many times.

100% yes, if you have flip flops on. 100% no if it involves you taking off your socks and shoes first.

I think it is the best ride there as well. I like it quite a bit better than TOT, and I don’t like marvel of superheroes very much. It is so well done.
Thanks again for sharing!

I was referring to the trick where used to be able to book a 2nd one at 2 hours and then use your old one at the same time the 2 hour mark hits. Using your old one doesn’t trigger another new G+ opening anymore (maybe that’s true at WDW too now) You can still stack if you get a new one every 2 hours.

Gotcha. I don’t think you can do that at WDW either.

Either way, the app is terrible that it doesn’t have anyway to notify you when you have one available. Having to manually set a timer is ridiculous in this day. I know they don’t want us to use them, but refreshing the page like mad as my alarm is beeping in a queue is also annoying to people around me lol.

Yay! Glad we have another Indy convert. So much better than Dinosaur.

This is 1000% false and the CM knows it. I would have gone to an actual GS CM and gotten a replacement.

You can have more than one pass, but it’s rare that you do because you can generally use them faster than the 2-hour rule.

Agree. But I like ToT the way it is as well. It’s good to have both.

Yeah I’ve seen many people put their flip flops in the under seat compartment or in the “box.” I don’t know if the CM asked them to or if they did it on their own, but it beats losing your shoes.

Did you use anytimes here? I didn’t think they distributed their own LLs, but I honestly haven’t paid much attention since the lines are so short usually.

Yes, WDW removed this loophole a few months ago.

The CMs basically just escorted me through the exit. Wait times were about 20 minutes, and i just wanted to check these off, I don’t actually think they used up my LLEP but I was too tired by the end of the night to go do repeat rides.

I knew this too, but I also had wasted about 45 minutes in Epcot once with a lost Test Track G+ in October so I didn’t feel like wasting another 45 minutes.
