As Ross Geller says, PIVOT!
I wrote a post a couple years ago about a cold, washed out weekend that pretty much required all the plan changes to have a good time. I just took a friend and her daughter (from Australia) to Animal Kingdom and Epcot for their first Disney day. Two parks, one day. It was hectic and absolute magic.
Since the kiddo had literally no idea that Disney World even existed until about two days ago, I really wasn’t sure what she would be most excited about. I also wasn’t sure how they would hold up in the heat and how the weather would hold up.
Enter pivots. The most notable being working around her stroller naps - (note to self, future Instagram post about Epcot locations that you can take the stroller in).
For everyone planning their first trip, I cannot stress enough to do your due diligence on what’s available outside of the list of attractions you are most interested in. That way you have some idea of what’s out there if something isn’t available or doable for some reason.
A few swaps I made yesterday:
- Not enough time to do Conservation Station and kiddo was suuuuuuuper hot so we needed AC. I checked times for the Nemo show and for FOTLK. We chose Lion King and everyone was happy.
- When we arrived at Epcot, kiddo was super asleep in the stroller. That meant we needed to kill a little time before heading over to The Seas, Journey of Water, and The Land. We visited Club Cool, walked through some gift store AC, and then headed over to Canada for some maple popcorn and to watch the movie (stroller accessible). After an hour-ish stroller nap, we were ready to nudge her awake to find Nemo.
Seasoned Disney travelers - what are your pivots?!
