Thinking of staying at Saratoga Springs for the first time and seeking info for 2 adults.

Can you walk to the golf course

I stayed one night there and can’t answer any of the questions….

Paging @ryan1

I haven’t used a scooter, but while the resort is spread out, it is all pretty walkable. Probably no one location is any better than another in terms of buses…but…the Paddock would be picked up earlier so might make it easy first thing if you plan to rope drop. The Springs is probably closest to the golf course…but you can walk to the golf course fairly easily from any of the buildings. If you want to be walkable to Disney Springs, then Congress Park is your best option.

We love SSR. Very relaxed and beautiful vibe. We love being walkable to DS. The buses were never an issue for us. It is also great to walk to the Friendship Boats and be able to take a ride over to Old Key West or Port Orleans.

ETA: Oh, actually I believe The Grandstand is the first bus stop and then The Carousel, and THEN The Paddock. I have only stayed in The Paddock and Congress Park myself…

You’re correct. According to videos I’ve watched grandstand is the best section for busses as it’s the first pick up and the first drop off on the way back from the parks. You can request this section in your Disney check in so I think it’s common people wanting to be first on bus.

The Grandstand area also has views of the golf course. Which the Paddock and Springs do not.

@Bubbakirby , if I’m recalling correctly, from the Springs to the main lobby area, the walkway has a slight incline up.

The Grandstand area has 4 bldgs with one beside a path thru some vegetation screening to the main parking for the main lobby area.

I suspect the Grandstand or Congress Park - if you think you’ll go to Disney Springs - may be your two main areas of choice.

@ryan1 prefers Congress Park because of DS.

My family prefer the first Paddock building. I like the fountain in the water. Tho the Springs area has a fountain also.

Springs is preferred because of proximity to the main pool and lobby.

The green circle below the words Carriage House has something to do with golfers.

The Grandstand building starting with 8501 is the building with the path to the Carriage House. Bldg 9101 would be all golf course views and a waterway. 9501 would be too.

The Springs bldg we stayed in was 4501.

This is true. I don’t know if it is closer to the golf course in terms of access as compared to the Springs…but it definitely is very close!

Probably flatter as well.

I don’t know what is the area I circled. I can’t think it’s the Clubhouse as there wasn’t much activity. I did see someone loading his clubs in a vehicle.

My DH is the golfer and can walk a golf course so we hoped he could walk to the course. That sounds fixable for him.

The Grandstand, The Carousel, The Paddock, Congress Park, then The Springs

We have stayed in Congress Park, Grandstand, & Carousel. While I can’t speak to the golf question this may sound silly but I really preferred Carousel it was a semi solo trip and I was pretty much car-less- I had no issues with buses from that stop and while I didn’t use a scooter my mobility device at the time was pretty bulky.

Saratoga IMO gets a bad rap for being “big” - I happen to love it and if it’s any help I was able to manage the entire resort for a scavenger hunt from my rollator. So if you’re good with a scooter pretty much nothing is off limits.

The Carousel bus stop is right beside the first Paddock bldg. I always request it.

I’m not good at walking, and with all the stuff* between the Springs and the Carriage House, the first Paddock bldg doesn’t seem much further. Plus there have been benches along the way.

*possibly a spa, maybe an arcade, the pool. One feels as tho the direct route is taken up with buildings.:wink:

Always check cuz Disney changes things up - this looks as tho he’ll have to go to the MK area for a walking course.

It may still be that Disney will pay for a ride to the course from your resort.

Yes!

The pro shop where you check in is in the lower level of the building where Turf Club and Artist Palette and the main lobby are.

Some areas’ rooms overlook the golf course as well!

Disney will indeed pick you up at your resort and bring you to SSR to tee off (or to any other of the golf courses as well).

We have golfed at LBV a few times now and just love it. Sunset 9 is a great bargain if you’re looking to have a shorter time on the course and don’t mind the evening hours (I prefer them, personally).

Son-in-law did this like 20 years ago at LBV - he was in a FtW Cabin. Wasn’t sure if Disney still transported folks (funny couple of words there).

He was put in with 3 other guys who may or may not have known each other, at sunset. As luck would have it on about the 2nd or 3rd hole the head of his Big Bertha flew off into the stratosphere.
I think they found it but he thought he was done. One of the other guys was like no, man, if you don’t care, I’ve got an extra driver - not Bertha, tho. SiL golfed the whole course. So stoked.

All this info is awesome. My DH has golfed LBV many times and it is his favorite Disney course. Since it’s basically at Saratoga he expressed interest in staying there. He does take cabs when we have stayed at other resorts in the past. Just thought it would be fun to try a new resort and have the benefit of golf near
