Quick question about RD procedure these days!
Do offsite guests get held at the taps until official opening time or are they allowed into the park and stopped elsewhere?
Asking because I am weighing the pros and cons of renting an EVC at the parks each day vs. renting a portable one from ScooterBug. If offsite guests are held at the taps until official opening, the detour to rent an EVC at the parks each day will really disrupt our morning touring plans.

Off site guests are held later in the park! So you can rent an ECV daily if you plan to rope drop.
My experience in April: very straightforward to rent at the park. I was able to fill out about 75% of the paperwork ahead of time (while my mother walked slowly from the parking lot) but she had to ultimately sign and verbally acknowledge the instructions. It was a nice scooter and was great. Very expensive per day however!
We only rented in the park that one day and was able to get Kingdom Strollers to deliver us one the next day. I would highly recommend doing a long term rental if for nothing else but the cost savings! My parents also liked having them at the resort.
Let me know if I can help answer anything else. I went from having little kids in strollers to needing scooters so it was quite the learning curve but it went really well!

This is very helpful, thanks! I have done long-term rentals in the past and had great experiences, but on those visits I was staying onsite and didnât have to worry about getting a portable one that disassembles for transportation. Just scootied my way right onto the bus and away we went! Iâm not thrilled about needing to assemble/reassemble multiple times per day (we plan to park hop every day).
Weâre building in multiple rest days between park days and I wonât be needing a scooter on those rest days. So even though the park ECVs are super pricey per day, the total cost wouldnât be much more than a long-term rental for the entire trip (with âwastedâ rental days in the mix).
Did the battery on the scooter you rented in the park last the entire day on a single charge? Thatâs another factor Iâm considering. The portable ones sound like they only last a few hours per charge. And did you park hop by chance? Curious if itâs common to have trouble getting another EVC in the second park after hopping, and whether you have to do all the paperwork all over again when you hopâŚ!

We park hopped but not on the day we did the ECV. I would be very worried about this. They were definitely out of ECVs one afternoon at Epcot because we considered it. I think you only need to flash the paperwork but I donât think that you are guaranteed one.
We had no battery issues with either scooter. The in-park people did say that we could tell any CM if you need something and they would send someone for you. So I wouldnât worry about the battery.
Are you coming alone? If you didnât want to disassemble you could always park hop via bus?

I am not alone (traveling with two of my adult siblings
) so I would have help with assembling the scooter if I go with a long term rental. There are pros and cons both ways so Iâm waffling (and suffering from decision fatigue!

I swear I donât work for this company but a week of scooter rental is cheaper than 3 days in the park.
I could assemble and disassemble pretty easily and even my Dad could do it. My mom could with a little help. Itâs lifting into the trunk that is the hardest part.
Well, hmmm. That is about half the price of ScooterBug, so maybe I need to rethink this!
It doesnât look like they have availability for our dates though (we leave in two days! yes, I have procrastinated way too long on this, please donât judge!
) so I will need to explore other companies.

Darn it! No judgement ever!
Try emailing them to ask if they have a cancellation though, canât hurt. They found an extra when we needed a second one mid-trip!

My power chair gave me all kinds of trouble in March and I decided to try renting an ECV that night, and was able to find one at Buena Vista for the next morning. There are lots of places that rent them in the area. I would try each place. Since you are staying off-site, it should be relatively easy to take delivery, too.
Off the top of my head, there is Gold Mobility and Buena Vista.
