When you book a room with DVC Points, can you still do a TP Room Request? Once the room is booked, do you go through the same channels as any other guest with special requests on your reservation? (Example, I usually request a tea kettle in my room.)
Yes! The request is done off of the reservation number and it doesn’t matter how you got the room or what category it is.
Link the reservation to TP as you would with a cash room and complete all fields as you would for any room request. You’ll see room categories that are specific to DVC (ie studio, 1br, 2br, grand villa). Choose your favorite and configure the request as you would with any other room
I would start by using the chat feature in DVC to see about making a request like having a tea kettle in your unit. They might note that request or (less likely) they will direct you to the best avenue for doing so. You can also ask upon arrival at the front desk, or by calling from your room. I have always found them to be very responsive.
There’s a problem with that though……
If you use chat or call Member Services to make a request for a tea kettle and then do a TP room request, one is going to over-write the other.
The golden rule is only make one request. Whether through Member Services, Touring Plans or on-line check-in, only do one. Unless they are identical.
I will say I always request a tea kettle from housekeeping from my room, and always got one.
I don’t think so
The tea kettle is going to go to the housekeeping team, not the room assignment team
Interestingly, if you really want your room request I would NOT do the online check in. My room was ready the second security scanned my MB last week. I feel like the system checked if a room was ready, and auto assigned me to it. Worked for this trip, but would not have if I had a specific request.
Thanks all! So, what I am hearing is that once the reservation is in MDE, it is treated like any other reservation?
Yes
I don’t know about making a room (number) request, but I wait until I get to my room and look for the sheet w/ extras to request from housekeeping. I always request a set of plates and flatware when I stay in a studio b/c I dislike the paper/plastic, and I want a ‘real’ coffee mug. I’ve never thought to make those request before arrival.
I thought that MS would add any request made to them onto the reservation. Just like if there is a special occasion being celebrated.
DVC-CM will note any special requests w/ the cavate that they may not be honored. They always ask “What are you celebrating?”
So, if I am going to use TP for a room request, I should NOT do online check-in?
Absolutely do online check-in if you want, for your card on file, PIN, that kind of thing.
Do not make any room requests in that process (which are super limited nowadays anyway, but best not to modify any fields on that check-in form)
Thank you!
Can confirm. On a split stay in Augus I got my room ready text as soon as the gaurd at the gaurd station scanned me in. It was definately not going with room assignments.
I have no complaints because my BWV location worked well and I got into my VGF room at 8:00am!
I made a room/building request prior to arriving at the Polynesian and I didn’t get either of my requests. Once we arrived at the room we were assigned to, we called and asked to change and we were told that they were fully booked and we could NOT be moved
It was the worse resort we ever stayed in and I was hoping to live my dream of Hawaii… not so. Needless to say, overlooking the CM’s parking lot and a dumpy looking PODS trailers I don’t recommend this resort.
we called
I think this might have been the issue. Calling sends you to a call center which, until proven otherwise, is some random switchboard in Nebraska.
If you want to make sure that your request is handled by someone on property, the best place is the front desk
Which part of the Poly did you stay in? Sorry this was your experience.
We stayed in Pago Pago:smirk: Farthest building away. Second floor at the end of the building
Not a fun trip
I’m confused over something. Hawaii is part of the Polynesian Village (the hotel side), and Pago Pago is part of the Polynesian Villas (the DVC side). They generally don’t mix the two without good reason. So if you were on a DVC reservation, you wouldn’t normally be given a room in Hawaii.
Also, I think there are people who would kill for a room in Pago Pago to get to the TTC that much quicker ![]()
would kill for a room in Pago Pago to get to the TTC that much quicker
Yeah I was going to say – it’s a great location for transit to MK and EP. But I get that the view of a parking lot can be a downer.
