We will be in Disney in 29 days! But I need help on how to navigate
I have the touring plans sub. We plan on doing 2 days in each park. However my question is this
Should I enter every single ride we want to go on into the plan and just follow it in order until the park closes and do the rest the next day we’re there
Or
Do I split the parks into areas for example fantasyland one day and Adventureland another day and input the rides JUST for those areas and follow the order for them and do the other side of the park the next day?
Last time I came we had the free fast pass system and I can’t justify buying the new genie or LL so need to find the best way of saving time in queues
I think how you divide will be based on your preference for walking vs. waiting but here is what I would do:
AK, EP, and HS: you should be able to ride all rides in one day. On the second day you can add in entertainment and repeats
MK: I find it helps to break into areas. Do Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, and maybe the western part of Fantasyland one day and Fantasyland and Tomorrowland the other.
That said, if there is a must-do ride for you (like Tron, 7DMT, etc.), do it on the first day so you can repeat it the second if you wish and don’t have to worry if something goes wrong (sometimes weather or other unforeseen circumstances will preclude you from riding something the second day).
That’s a good way to start. You can share your plans here and see if it makes sense to reorder anything. Usually the plans are ok but sometimes they give weird results.
My thoughts are similar to Jeff for MK - Split it up on land. The only suggestion I would make is, based on this, key in on the MUST do major attractions for your day based on this. Then add other rides in that area that you think may fill your day in the plan. Without purchasing multipass, I would highly suggest a rope drop strategy.
For example, if there are no ride limitations, I would likely split the focus this way:
Day 1: Tron & 7DMT focus.
Tomorrowland
Fantasyland (if you can’t get to all of these, move PPF (if it is back open when you are there) and ITSW to your day 2 plan)
Day 2: Tiana focus
Frontierland
Adventureland
Liberty Square
Any repeats you want from day 1
These splits are easy to fit into a day at MK in my opinion, but will depend on your ability to hit the long waits early or late.
Epcot - If you are going 2 days and repeats are not a main focus, I would do the following: Get a VQ for Guardians both days - Great ride, I’d try to ride it both days.
Day 1:
Focus on Frozen early and then go back to the front of the park Celebration areas and do anything there you want. afternoon and/or evening - Enjoy World showcase, shows, characters and a nice dinner. You can try to Remy standby that evening as well. 45 - 60 min line likely
Day 2:
Focus on Remy early (even better from International Gateway entry gate). If entering from front, I would repeat rides from day 1 and head back to Remy mid morning (10ish), the line seems to experience a temporary dip in wait times around this time of the morning. You could also sleep in, and just head there around that time with a later arrival time.
reride anything from day 1
*enjoy time in Worldshow case - nice meal
Luminious at days end - Can do Day 1 as well
Hollywood Studios
I would split my focus here as well. Jeff is 100% correct, you can hit them all in one day, but you have 2, I’d use them and slow pace here some to avoid some long lines. This is especially true if you want to watch some shows and see any characters.
Day 1:
SDD rope drop
Rest of Toy Story Land
Hollywood & Sunset blvd areas (Tower of Terror, RnRC, Micky & Minney RR, etc)
Fantasmic
Day 2:
Rose of the Resistance rope drop
Rest of Star Wars Galaxy Edge
Echo Lake Area
Shows, Characters, repeats from Day 1
Animal Kingdom - Only plan you need here is Flight of Passage in my opinion. Ride it early or late. Touring plan and can help you craft a plan to hit all in 1 day unless your are going to check out all exhibits and spend a lot of time there. 1 day there would be plenty in my opinion and give you a 3rd day at MK or another park with more attractions.
If you do 2 days, I’d likely build a plan like this, and plan to do Pandora both days:
Day 1:
FOP rope drop
Navi
Safaris
Lion King Show
Trails
Rafiki’s Planet Watch Area
Tough to be a bug
Day 2:
Everest
Kali River Rapids
Dinosaur
Nemo Show
Feathered Friends in Flight Show
Anything else you want to see
Finish with FOP if you want a 2nd ride near park close
I would enter these splits into the touring plan software for all parks and see how it recommends approaching it and juggle stuff around some to fit your preference and touring style.
We are of the same mindset. We are actually going in two weeks and our general plan is doing 2 days at MK and Epcot, one at HS and AK, and then we have one more park day to be flexible with. We also will have park-hopper this time which is not typical for us, so that will definitely help with the flexibility. Will you be park-hopping at all?
Our first trip back after the old FP system was 2 years ago, and we did not purchase Genie + for that trip either. We quickly learned that our good old faithful TPs were not as helpful as they used to be. Our first two days were kinda miserable, until we adjusted to a more flexible plan, and accepted that we may not get to every single ride. (If you’re interested in nitty gritty details, I’d be happy to share the link to our trip report, just let me know!)
This year we are more mentally prepared, and are trying some different strategies. I did a touring plan for one day at each park and put everything in that we hope to do. I optimized first, but then I reordered things based on our preference and used the Evaluate button instead of Optimize. We really ended up using the plans to know which rides we wanted to rope drop, and then which we hoped to get on during our last trip.
I’ll stop rambling now, but feel free to ask more specific questions! Happy planning!
For clarity there are some rides we won’t go on and some I’m ummming and ahhhhing about. None of us are particularly brave
We 100% won’t go on rockin rollercoaster or ToT. I’m nervous and not sure we will go on tron, guardians, RoR or space mountain. I can’t stand that tummy tickle feeling, my daughter and partner are nervous and my mom gets sickness on coasters. So hopefully this makes our days easier. Unless anyone convinced me otherwise
With that, i think you will be fine. Should be able to get most of what you want to ride in each day.
I would still focus on the big ticket rides you will ride and see where they fit in best and go from there. Moving things around in TP and using evaluate vs optimize is a great tip. I use it to fine tune plans.
Sounds like you’ll have a great time and get to fit everything in. With such a varied group and so much time, I recommend getting reservations for a sit-down meal in each park early afternoon.
It’s nice to have an hour in the AC and out of the sun and to just rest.
In MK my favorite is Skipper’s Canteen for the theming. In EPCOT it is Rose and Crown for their vegetarian fish and chips (others like it for the pub atmosphere).
