Resellers: can you see resorts you can’t book at?

I saw a post on DVC Fan on FB today wherein the OP, who is a resale owner, says they can’t see Riviera and FW Cabins in their portal. Presumably this is because as resale owners they cannot book there.

But I think some of you are resellers and I believe you’ve spoken about those resorts’ availability.

Am I mistaken?

Can you see new resorts in your portal?

No, typically you can’t.

But if you buy OTUPs or have had points transferred into your account you will be able to see availability at the resorts in question.

Plus there is at least one site that scrapes availability data a couple of times a day to publish.

I am part reseller but pre 2019 changes so I can stay at all including new. It never occurred to me that not all resellers could see all inventory. I guess it makes sense it’s just kind of weird

I just checked and I can’t see FW, DLH, or Riviera. I have never thought about this before – I could have sworn I had seen Riviera in there at some point. But I’m probably misremembering.

There have been glitches, including one very recently, when not only could you see the restricted resorts but the system even let you book.

I saw a handful of people say they got to keep the reservation, but most got cancelled.

I can only see the resorts I can book at under the Book a Vacation page for my resale contract, but if I went to the specific resort’s page, like the Riviera for example, then I could see its availability there. So not as easy/obvious, but possible to see.

Oh wow didn’t know this little secret to see availability, I purchased resell so I can’t see the new resorts under the normal booking search

Yes actually. This was exactly what the post was “revealing” - which seemed silly since you could see them from your booking page (or so I thought - I stand corrected)

If they can accomplish this then maybe someday they could stop sending me emails for membership extras that I’m not eligible for??

I am grandfathered in to all resorts but not membership extras!

Ha ha! I didn’t realize that you were grandfathered in, and it was specifically you that I was thinking of who I thought could see all the resorts. But you can because you’re grandfathered in

Haha yes I can see everythinggggg! My Saratoga points are from 2017 which was actually very shortly after the initial resale restrictions so the only thing I don’t have is membership extras. At that time you only needed 25 direct points for a white card too. We should have just bought 25 BWV points then and there because we ended up buying them two years later!

I never knew this. I can’t see them from my regular booking. Funny enough if you click on “book room” it shows up blank on the next page.

So you just select the resort from the “Destinations” pages and view the availability from there? Good to know.

I always just searched the hotel and the availability page would come up, but yes I assume going from Destinations would work also (I can’t really test it anymore because I have direct points now, too).
