Rent DVC points

I have never stayed on-site in Disney World because of the cost, but now I’d like to explore renting DVC points on our next Disney World vacation. Can anyone give me any guidance on how to do this, and if you have any experience in this area, about how much it costs?

When is your trip? Are you thinking about renting a studio? How many people are you traveling with?

Each DVC resort has its own point chart. Depending on where you rent from, the big companies will charge $20-25 a point. Some resorts and dates will cost many more points than other resorts.

While renting DVC points is a cost effective way to stay onsite at the Deluxe resorts, it’s not always or often the least expensive way to stay onsite. A discounted value or even a moderate will be less expense. Not always but normally.
That being said if you place value on nicer accommodations and have stayed off-site to get a nicer stay at a reasonable rate DVC rental points are great! Some resorts are harder to find availability. But if Old Key West and Saratoga are a consideration you can almost always find availability there.
The the Swan and Dolphin can have reasonable rates too. I’m getting a room at the Dolphin for $300 a night all in when Pop was average $274 per night plus tax for a standard room!

I’ve rented points from all three of the major online ones where you get a sense of security. DVC Rentals: Rent, Book & Save! - DVC Rental Store
and
Rent DVC Points & Save on Disney Vacation Club Resorts | David’s Vacation Club Rentals
and
DVC Shop Rentals - Your One Stop Shop For DVC Rentals

I’ve had good experiences with all three. I’ve gotten amazing deals like $165/night but even then, there were cheaper deals in Value resorts. So, a value resorts might be cheaper than renting points but generally renting points is a similar price to a moderate in my experience and can be a greater deal when travelling with large parties, splitting the cost and getting a larger space like the Treehouse in Saratoga Springs. And while I don’t mind a stay at Pop or AoA and have really enjoyed both (I wasn’t a fan of ASMu) I do like a Deluxe and like the amenities like the evening extra hours and will often do this as it is great value for a deluxe!

Agree with the others here. I’ve used Dave’s DVC Rental Store, twice and been really happy. They will come out the price of a moderate though, so almost certainly cheaper at a value if price is the key issue. I would also recommend staying on resort nowadays too. The transportation, early entry and lightning lane options all make it worth a few extra $$ than off-site. You have to pay for parking too if not on-site and the resort fees can make a cheap one not so cheap. Staying in the Disney bubble is definitely worth a dollar or two extra - for us anyway.
