Did you all see that Disney has reduced the deposit amount for new bookings from 20% of the total fare to 10% of the total fare?!
Seems like they are not moving product and are looking for ways to entice people to book. Gotta say that 20% has always been a little tough to swallow to me. Taking it down by half is an awfully good start.

I’ve had so many ads and emails and even a survey this week. I wish I could consider it!
The survey was asking about our interest in drink packages and specialty dining packages and excursion packages. They also asked about what ship activities we look for, etc. (rock climbing walls, rope courses, etc.).
Sorry to hijack. But DCL has really made itself known to me this week!

Yep. Ultimately a lower deposit promo doesn’t persuade me in the least. The cost is the cost. Now a percentage off discount for the second guest or a free drink package would have me looking at a Disney cruise again.
I don’t think it’s a prolon I think it’s a permanent change in policy.
DCL also reduced the cancellation fees, too, with this change. Maybe too many people were hesitant to commit to a cruise, with so much other uncertainty, and DCL wanted to ease the risks?
Pre-Covid all the lines that I ever booked with offered full refunded up to so many days before travel. I was much more likely to book something even without the kids’ final schedules knowing I could adjust later if needed. Now we have to wait to book. That said, I’ve been able to get good rates if I’m not picky.
I think recently the Disney Dish said that the Wish is down YoY in terms of bookings. I think that the newer ships are riding high on “new ship smell” and they will need to do something about price points in the future.
The list of sailings available TA rates is absolutely insane.
