Currently I have 4 separate reservations lined up in the next 7 months. On my latest DVC sales pitch, the guy said that after I bought the DVC people would take care of rebooking all my existing reservations in DVC.
Has anyone done this? Did it work smoothly? I’m a bit intrigued at the prospect of getting nicer accommodations on all my upcoming trips.
It’s definitely something they try very hard to do, but it’s never a guarantee. I would hang on to the bookings until they could rebook for you - or if they could somehow move your cash reservation to a points reservation (since theoretically there is a room for you - you’re just holding it). I would worry about canceling them and then finding out they cannot rebook what you had using your DVC points, particularly if you are set on the ressies you have and not willing to take anything else.
Are these all cash reservations for DVC rooms? Or at the non DVC resorts?
When you buy direct, you do get a Welcome Home stay. That means that if there isn’t availability at the resort you want, they will try to pull back inventory for you. But it only applies to one reservation, and only if:

@Ali_Ababwa how far out are you booked? I was under the impression that you will only buy Lakeshore?
My existing reservations are regular non-DVC cash bookings, mostly at non-DVC resorts, but I’d gladly switch them over to DVC accommodations. They’re between the end of July and next January, the last 2 just locking in bouncebacks.
I’m hoping to buy Lakeshore, but I could be convinced to buy AKL now if it saved me money or got me superior accommodations on these upcoming trips!
We all know I’m going to suffer from Addonitis as soon as I buy in, anyway.
@Ali_Ababwa I know you have been thinking about Use Year. If you decide to get an AKL contract now, will you pick an August or later Use Year to get double points?
That sounds logical certainly! I have to do some sleight of hand first to free up the money.
I would be prepared for them to plan to accommodate you at OKW or Saratoga for those dates.
I’d be happy with those that I haven’t tried yet! But I may wait until after my Bounceback budget bookings at Contemporary and Poly are done.
I don’t know if anyone has a spreadsheet but I am wondering the savings of a bounce back vs. an extra year of points (or Disney buying back that extra year of points).
