I’m helping my elderly aunt and uncle with an upcoming trip. They are meeting my cousin and his family at WDW but are flying in solo. To set the scene, my uncle is about 6’5 (former football player build) and walks slowly with a cane. My aunt is under 5’ and maybe 90 lbs soaking wet.
We have a scooter set up for my uncle for the trip. I’ve set up the mobility request through Breeze.
Can someone with experience walk me through how far the Breeze mobility help will take them? They will have checked bags and then need to get to the Mears bus pickup. If the mobility help only gets them to luggage, are there porters available to help my aunt and uncle get to the bus pickup? Although we go to Disney often, we always use carry on only and rent a car so I have no idea what to expect.
My aunt and uncle are still sharp as whips and have no issue paying for extra help, but they would feel much more confident if they knew what to expect.
I don’t have experience with MCO. DH did travel alone from central Missouri to Seattle and back. And another time central Missouri to I think Boston. Change planes both times. He could walk ok but had difficulty understanding announcements. Didn’t want an escort. After not finding enough answers on line I called the airline(s) for person to person, airport specific info.
We did go the escort route, which meant wheel chair which DH grumbled about until I asked what if was me and not you. He appreciated the knowledge of the escort and I think he kinda liked the speedy ride thru two airports, because he was escorted to baggage claim at the second airport, where our daughter was to meet him.
Regarding MCO and baggage claim, maybe someone can come along to tell us if these are within sight of each other. I believe it depends on the airline.
I know I would. MCO is almost traumatic
