Well good morning Disney family! Today was my ADR day for my July 9-12 trip, and I was able to get every ADR that I wanted at the times I wanted them. Granted, only two of them are typically challenging (Space 220 and Homecomin’), but I was shocked at the availability of dining at this time of year. Makes me wonder if a) crowds will be lower than predicted or b) this is a result of the summer crowd/tourist that typically doesn’t plan ahead. Thoughts?
Disney currently has a lot of offers available for the summer months (4-day ticket for $396, 30% off hotels, free dining for Disney Visa Members being some of the big ones) that are usually reserved for the slower seasons. It looks as if Disney is expecting a slow summer.
Well, that is encourage for our trip given that I’m dreading experiencing Disney during what will no doubt feel like the fires of hell!
I don’t think it has anything to do with expected crowds as much as it does with the revamping of the ADR system that was done recently. I have been booking for a lot of people since that change and have very little challenge even getting the traditionally hard-to-get reservations.
Whatever they did, for once, worked really really well!

That is fair.
But I even booked through the peakest season (spring break and easter) with no trouble whatsoever.
It may be a combination of (shocked!) improved IT functionality in this area and lower crowds.

That is a really great point! I think when you give people more information and they can see the many options they have, there isn’t this fear of scarcity that no doubt results in people hoarding several ADRs “just in case”. I just couldn’t believe it when I saw the availability this morning! Give that IT team a raise!

Let’s don’t get crazy
There is still a LOT to be improved with Disney IT 
But here they have done a great job and made an improvement that is beneficial to everyone - and which seems to be working well!
We were at WDW over Christmas break and got all of our ADRs at exactly the time we wanted easily. It was great!

I think that some of it has to do with the increased prices and the lower value of the Dining Plan.
