Question RE: Splits stays at Universal Hotels

We are booked at the Helios Grand for three nights then will go to Portofino for 2 nights. There will be six adults in our party. Does anyone know whether bell services at the Helios Grand can transfer luggage to the Portofino? We are not renting a car but could get a six passenger Uber just for us to travel between the hotels if we didn’t have to take the luggage.

Sorry but Universal does not transfer luggage. I would price out a one day rental vs. two Lyfts vs. maybe a taxi van?

We did a similar thing staying at Helios one night for our two days in epic and then we switched to cabana bay. We left our bags at bell services and did our second day at epic. Then picked them up at the end of the day and ordered an XL Uber (van) to take us to Cabans Bay. It was easy peasy but I will admit it was nicer in our first switch at Disney when we checked our bags at BLT and went to MK and then just took the bus from MK to SSR for the rest of our stay and called and had our bags delivered to the room at midnight which was admittedly hard to stay up for lol but nice to just go from MK to other hotel.

But also given you don’t have to checkin at Disney and just can use your mb or phone it makes more sense there. Since you have to checkin anyway at cabana bay taking the uber isn’t so bad.

rental cars were way more expensive for our trip than ubering b/w hotels and the airport a few times.

@rizzog100 i stayed at Portofino and had them transferred to another hotel at some point within the past two years. Since both are premium hotels, I think it would be worth it to call Helios directly and see if it’s an option

I believe that stopped all luggage transfers in February 2025. It would be great if they started it again?

Yeah I asked for my Dec trip and was told it wasn’t an option at that time.

Would also be interested if anyone manages to arrange this!

Perhaps I’ve been spoiled by Disney’s approach to this, but the absence of luggage transfer is currently the only thing preventing me from booking a split stay in July. I would even be willing to splurge more money on two nights at Helios instead if it meant I didn’t have to take the time out of my day to go back to resort A and rideshare to resort B (with a lot of luggage - our UOR days are at the end of a 3-week long trip across the US).
