Question about PtP

I’ve never done Park-to-Park at WDW. Didn’t seem worth it, especially compared to the convenience you get at Universal. But for my next trip (after my big trip to Epic) I’m thinking I’d like to try it.

So my question, for the people who park hop regularly, is what is the fastest way to travel between each individual park? MK and Epcot share the monorail; Epcot and HS have the SkyLiner; and everyone has the buses and Minnie vans

Average trip time:
MK ↔ EP
MK ↔ HS
MK ↔ AK
EP ↔ HS
EP ↔ AK
HS ↔ AK

That is so UOR. You mean “I’ve never Hopped at WDW”

That said, I’m not a good person to answer your question because we’ve rented a car for each trip since 2019. I can’t remember how long it took when we used to use WDW transportation. Others will have better answers.

Average trip time:(maximum time if worst case scenario, such as bus just left without you)
MK ↔ EP 33 (45)
MK ↔ HS 24 (34)
MK ↔ AK 45 (63)
EP ↔ HS 21 (30)
EP ↔ AK 33 (48)
HS ↔ AK 20 (30)

These are from the 2025 UG. These are all using only Disney transportation.
From EP to HS, you can either walk, boat, or skyliner - and they are all fairly equal speed IF you are willing to walk with purpose, or it’s not at rope drop or the end of the night when skyliner lines get long.

Driving yourself is usually quicker.

I used to love the PtP (behind the parks) bus transportation that WDW offered for a while. So convenient. I wish they had kept that option!

We don’t usually travel directly between parks. Rather, we take advantage of going to a different park after taking some break, perhaps. We might go back to the room, and then head to Epcot for a dinner in WS, or maybe spend the morning at AK, then go into HS for a nighttime show or to see SWGE at night, etc.

We do Disney in more a relaxed vibe, so getting it all done isn’t really our goal. Park hopping ultimately takes time away from getting as much done as possible…with the exception of AK, which generally closes early. Park hopping from AK to another park allows you to better utilize the day.

Another usage would be if you are at MK on a party day, but aren’t going to a party. You get the lower daytime crowds, and the can park hop to another for the evening.

Since we tend to do longer trips, and are interested in vibe more than rides, park hopping is just something we do in a relaxed fashion.

MK to EP there is the monorail. You take either line (resort or express) to TTC and then change to EP line. It is clearly marked.

These are my guestimates:

MK ↔ EP 25 min depending on monorail waits
MK ↔ HS 30
MK ↔ AK 50
EP ↔ HS - walk - 20 skyliner 25, boat 30
EP ↔ AK - 30
HS ↔ AK - 25

I really enjoy the transprotatioj between MK to EP and EP to HS. These are the ones I am lost likely to move between without taking a break at the hotel first.

During hot weather I always take a break during the hottest part of the day, so then I am likely to hop back to any park.

I have driven once, and it was very convenient if doing a lot of park hoping. If you are willing to spring the extra $20 for prefered parking it makes things super easy!

We’ve found it is quickest to walk from HS to Epcot, but Skyliner is easier on the feet. The boat is a little slow for me but my kid likes it.

For sure…however, when it is rather hot, or risking rain (sans lightning), it is the best of the three choices since they often run the A/C!!!

That’s a good point!

OP … Are you asking about PtP (i.e. inside of one Park to inside of another Park), or are you asking about exiting one Park and traveling to the entrance of another Park?

Well i dont have the luxury of multiple weeklong trips every year. I’ve got one weekend a year (a three day weekend if im lucky) to cram as much park as possible

So for the people who do try to do two parks in one day, which combination sacrifices the least amount of time waiting for transportation to arrive and time spent traveling between the two

Right now im leaning towards MK ↔ Epcot

I dont think i understand what youre asking. I thought i was speaking plainly. If i want to visit two WDW parks in the same day, which combination is the most practical (assuming i skip all the minor attractions)

Definitely, EP ↔ HS. The walk between the two is the shortest…and even if you use the Skyliner, being mid-day, there should be very little delay. In both the walking and Skyliner case, it is also probably the most interesting/pretty.

The MK ↔ EP route is fine, except that there isn’t a direct monorail. You have to take the monorail and/or ferry to the TTC, and then transfer to the EP monorail. That adds time. BUT, if you hit it just right, it COULD be quite fast.

They all have the potential to be very similar in time, however, if you just happen to luck into arriving right when a given form of transportation arrives. So, in practice, the difference between any of the options is probably minutes. The worst is probably AK, because you will likely have to use a resort intermediary. To MK, use Contemporary. For AK → HS, use Boardwalk (walk) or CBR (Skyliner). For AK → EP, use Beach Club (walk) or CBR/Riviera (Skyliner). The advantage of AK is that it closes early, so you ultimately use more of your day by hopping to another park.

Oh, something else to consider is what you hope to accomplish in the second park. If, for example, you want to focus on the rides near the front of Epcot, and not so much World Showcase, then arriving at the International Gateway is probably not the best idea because even if you can get to the park faster, you have to walk quite a distance still once inside the park. So, arriving to Epcot by bus or monorail would be better. On the other hand, if you want to do WS, such as Remy, etc., then arriving at the IG makes more sense.

There are park to park buses as well.

I thought I read that they haven’t brought those back. (Which was a surprise to me.)

We definitely used park-topark buses multiple times to hop on our December 2022 trip. I don’t think I’ve had park hoppers since then, but I’m almost certain that they’re still a thing.

Okay. I can’t find reference to them on Disney’s website including the page about bus transportation, and somewhere on these forums someone recently mentioned them not being available…but I can’t remember the details.

If park to park buses are still a thing, that’s good…saves the hassle.

Circa 2015/2016 Disney offered the Express Transportation Option, often referred to as PtP, to transfer between parks without leaving the security bubble. Unfortunately the service only ran for approximately 6 months before being canceled. As an avid park hopper I found it to be well worth the extra fee because is shaved off 15 to 20 minutes from the convention travel modes between parks.
