Do pressed penny machines still take quarters? Or do they take dollar bills? How much do they cost? Do you provide the penny or does the machine? It’s been so long since we did pressed pennies that I don’t remember.

I’m a penny collector! The majority of these machines still take $1. No machine still takes quarters or requires your own penny.
Although, it’s getting harder to find machines that still take single $1. They’ve started to really push you into a credit card purchase for a set of pennies. Or they only have these really oversized “medallions" that I don’t like.
Often I just want one, but get required to buy the set.

They’re typically priced at $1 for using a single dollar bill and you get one penny.
OR
if you use a credit card you’ll have to pay $5, but get 5 pennies
So..it’s up to you. You can have the ease of a cashless transaction, but forced to buy in bulk or bring bills and pay individually.
OH! IME - Bring a ziplock bag to keep them in as you go. I have lost a few when I put them in the pockets of my bag or clothes.

I bring my Disney penny binder. You can get them at the bigger gift shops and online.

I miss the ones you had to crank, I even would search for pre 1982 pennies that were all copper or something like that and bring them with. Its way to easy to spend a small fortune on pressed pennies so I stick to more unique ones especially if they have a year on them.

I would be so scared to lose mine! I’ve got pennies from all my trips going back to 1984!!
These days they don’t use actual pennies anymore. They use copper slugs that are shiny to give a better impression.
You still can use your own pennies and crank them out at Universal!!

Awesome!!! Mine are all 2006 and after. I’ve never thought of losing it. I generally only lose my phone bc it has a magnetic case and I stick it places, lol.
Did they remove all of them? I remember seeing a few left in recent years.
I bring shiny pennies, just in case.

Sadly, I haven’t visited in more than a year. So, I am going off my memory..
I think the one at the Suess Landing bathrooms and the one outside Transformers were both still have crank machines that take pennies. There was one in Port of Entry outside one of rhe shops too…
They’ve converted most to dispensing the copper slugs and taking credit cards.

I collect them also, and all but one of the machines I saw last week were the new kind, without the crank. I saw ONE with a crank and now I can’t remember where it was, sorry!

It’s okay. I’ve been to WDW twice since that post. Not having to provide pennies simplifies the whole thing. And I prefer using $1 bills.
