It’s only insane if youre not a first timer who knows nothing about disney except there’s a ton of waiting in line and managing that sounds awful but your kiddo wants to go and youre willing to throw money at a problem and will never go back… for liners and APs it’s nuts. But it aint for us

We fall in the very mildly price sensitive bucket. Our vacation time is worth a lot to me and not looking at my phone all the time and having alarms going off to check for drops is what pulls Universal up from waaay behind for me.
I hate to admit it but we’re very likely to suck it up for Hollywood Studios at least one day of our next trip after this one. I’m kindof glad it doesn’t go into effect until just after our trip next week though.

I can see this. We usually spend one and a half to two weeks at Disney World when we go. If I cut that in half, I could easily move that money to pay for these passes. But I really enjoy our long trips, it gives us a chance to do one sit down meal a day so that we can hit all of our favorites and try one or two new ones, and it allows us to take more time to just wander and experience.
at the end of the day, though, I wouldn’t be spending any extra money to make these passes happen.

Not exactly. There are two versions of Express pass. There’s a one that you can only do each ride once. And then there is an unlimited express pass. Unlimited is what’s included in the deluxe resorts and you can ride the rides as many times as you want.

Someone already mentioned the DLR version is identical to DLP. Both parks, similar cost, open to everyone.
The parks in both are 5 minutes apart. And at DLP you either buy each ride individually or buy the Premier Access.
Premier at DLP isn’t usually worth it. Some of the rides included don’t need it, and there are both big coasters and kiddie rides included. But from reports, those that do buy it are the once in a lifetime guests just want to skip the lines because they have 1 or 2 days. Buy it one day, re-ride favourites the next.
For WDW I think it’s a cheaper alternative to a VIP tour. Get it for 2 parks (MK & DHS) and ride everything.
Again, like at DLP, many who do buy it will be the once in a lifetime guests. Or it’ll be those who do it for convenience, like the dining plan.

This is why, IMO, the shifting money and shortening the trip doesn’t nearly equate to the same experience.

My crew doesn’t do the unlimited because they’re there for just one day and prefer to hit everything they want than to do the same ones over and over (IIRC, anyway LOL)

I was actually curious and even tentatively interested in this product since we’ll be travelling to WDW during peak week… but this product just seems terrible, especially compared to the Universal Express Pass.
Up to $449 USD per person, per day, for a single park??? So $2000 for my party of four per day-- at that cost I could stay for an extra two days and achieve just as much hahaha. That’s more than the Universal Express Pass Unlimited, for less value. And it seems worthless for parks such as Epcot where there are literally perhaps five rides this would help with.
As others have said above, for a larger family/party, the VIP tour is probably comparable or cheaper.

Sounds like the DLP to me, but which attractions/shows does it include? Right now, you can get more or less rides on a day, with better or worse times but I managed to do all rides in a day with the LLMP in HS for example, so besides the stress of getting times, what does it give me? For DLP you have no alternative, I wish they would have the LLMP

Fair enough, but the primary parks I could see this being of value in would be MK and possibly DHS. I think it’s a terrible deal for Epcot and AK, and honestly even DHS is doable with a good strategy. (We almost always travel during peak times because hooray, trying to coordinate four people with strict work and school schedules, and MK is the one park where I think it’s really challenging/dare I say impossible to hit every ride or even every “adult” ride - i.e. skipping the spinners, Dumbo, etc-- in a single day.)

this very much this- i feel like those that dont know really cant understand. this summer i snagged a AKV 1brd on II. We traveled with another couple that over the last 20 years they would come into WDW for 1 a day with their kids. They had found the experience to stressful. Over the course of 8 days we wandered in and out of the parks at our leisure. They were shocked at how wonderful the experience can be when you actually take the time to stop and smell the roses.

So I did a simulation. 3 adults, end of January. I am assuming is low season cause I don’t wanna check if it is or not xD
- 4 nights, 5 days (cause i still think it’s insane and tiring to do MK in 1 day) in AKL with this express pass (1 day for every park, last day without it, counting it at the minimal price), total cost: 4.275€
- 6 nights, 7 days in Port Orleans Riverside with LLMP and LLSP (1 day for every park counting it as the maximal price): about 4.100 €
So for 100€ less I would have 2 more park days, a decent resort, and the chance to skip some lines 4/7 days. Is it more stress for planning? Certainly. But still… (Note I edit the post cause I am accountant and stupid and didn’t count the LLMP for 3 guests)

That’s what I am paying per night for eight of us in a three bedroom club level suite at hard rock Hotel that includes unlimited express pass. The value proposition is so not there on this.

I quibble with USA TODAY’s headline - only accessing each attraction once isn’t “unfettered” access! But, yeah, hard to imagine it’d have much value in AK. I do see a huge demand for this though for other parks. In my opinion, it’s truly become really complicated to have a smooth day, accessing most attractions in a park, without studying strategy significantly (and executing it on said days), taking longer trips, or visiting more often (e.g., as an AP).
