POR: will we fit?

I’m looking to book at Port Orleans Riverside for my family of five: 2 adults and 3 kids (13, 12, 9).

Here’s a look at the search results:

All the rooms say the hold up to 4 adults, which makes sense with the two queen beds in each. Two rooms mention the pull-down bed for one kid; however, the Pool View and River View options seemingly have nowhere for the third kid to sleep (unless Disney wants me to put all three in a single queen bed?).

My question is…will we actually fit in the Pool View or River View room? Or is booking one of those rooms just setting us up for an automatic room change to something with the pull down for a kid? If we are going to get upgraded to a 5th sleeper room anyway, I might as well book the less expensive room without the 5th sleeper haha

I don’t think they will allow you to pick a room that holds 4 with 5 people, even if one is a Disney child, IIRC. I believe that they only allow 5 if one or more are under 3.

Others may know more.

I stayed in a POR resort view in March (photo idential to river/pool view) and it’s definitely just the two queen beds, no other sleeping surface for the 5th person.

I would also be surprised if the system allowed you to book that option for 5 people, you definitely need the 5th sleeper (or an additional rollaway bed or equivalent).

For what it’s worth, I don’t think it is likely worth paying extra for a preferred view type room, anyhow. Half of the charm at POR is the grounds…so walking further (which isn’t really all that far either way) is actually almost a benefit.

The booking system is allowing me to pick a room without a 5th sleeper with the 9/12/13 ages loaded in for the kids

We are only going to be there for one night before switching to a split stay at AKL Kidani and BoardWalk so we’re on the same page as you and more interested in checking out the grounds than the room view (and most interested in saving a few bucks haha)

You’ll need to book a 5th sleeper room. View doesn’t really matter since you don’t have a balcony to sit outside and enjoy a view.

I find POR to be tight with just two adults once you add in luggage and stuff. Not enough table surfaces and such. I think it would feel less tight if the sink/vanity weren’t in the room with you.

There must be a glitch in Disney’s IT. In the past I’ve not been able to book a moderate with 2 adults, 2 teens and a pre-teen that did not have the pull down bed. If memory serves, I was shown the 2 queens rooms but couldn’t select one.

Have you re-checked the ages of the kids? Perhaps one age is incorrect.

I thought they got rid of the fifth sleeper option, and automatically put parties of 5 in a room that has 5th sleeper. I thought I read this was a new booking change, so maybe people who don’t need the 5th sleeper don’t take them?

You have to pay more for 5th sleeper rooms so I can’t imagine they would get rid of that booking category. For 2026 Moderates eliminated pool/water and woods/garden views and will now just have Standard and Preferred room categories instead of view categories.

I’m not sure why the system isn’t kicking you to a 5th sleeper but you cannot have more than 4 in a room that sleeps 4, except if that 5th person is under 3 (or is it 2?)

Nope it’s for sure still a bookable category. Just built a trip with a 5th sleeper a few days ago!

I thought so. And it’s 0-2 year olds, which is also under 3.

I retract my comment. I have no idea what I was reading… maybe a different resort. Sorry to confuse anyone!

You’re half right I believe.

What they have stopped allowing for 2026 bookings is booking a 5th sleeper room for only 4 people.

Which is a PITA for those with older kids who won’t / can’t share as bed. Like a boy and girl both in their teens, for example. Or a family with adult children who want a bed each.

They’ve been playing around with room categories. From what they sent us TAs the reason they’ve changed the categories is “to make it simpler” lmao. So I do believe that you would be put in a room with a pull down bed if you booked river or water view, despite what the fine print says on your screenshot. If you were my client I first of all would say book anywhere but PORS, but if that was the only good option, then book standard 5th sleeper just to be on the safe side and if you want a river view, I’d call in to request a standard view that was close to river view using TP room finder.
