First time staying at Pop Century and I’ve used the room request feature on touring plans for a standard room in building 4. I’ve seen in a couple places recently (such as a Pop Century facebook group) that all of the 60s section is preferred now after the refurb. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so should I change my request?
This was posted on TP chat a few days ago with a lot of “a CM told me”. It has not been clear if these are phone calls (which go to a call center) to in person conversations
I asked Len about this and this is his response:
Then someone on chat went to the Popmdesk to confirm (posted in chat)
There are Standard Rooms in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s sections that are adjacent to the lake. Most are 1 Queen Bed + 1 Queen-Size Table Bed configurations. Although some of these rooms are adjacent to the lake, many are considered by Disney to be Landscape View most likely because of the vegetation between the room and the lake itself. The higher the floor, the more likely it would be considered a Lake View.
All this presumes that there has not been a yet unannounced change by Disney.
Over in this topic, Disney has announced and confirmed to Touring Plans that the 60’s section (buildings 4 & 5) are now all categorized as Preferred rooms
Building 3 (my preferred) and building 6 are great for standard rooms near the lake with a quick walk to the Skyliner and the main lobby. I’d request these.
The reason for my wife and I always staying in the 60’s building is that they are close to the Skyway. There are actually two buildings, one on both sides of the pool. We are seniors. Therefore a shorter walk is nice to the Skyway and yet once we arrive in the parks, we walk a lot anyway. Go figure.
I always book standard rooms and ask for bld 3, 4, 5, or 6. My request is always met, usually in bld 5 or 6. I’ve had been given the same room in bld 6 twice
I’ve made new requests for building 3 in the 50s section now, similar location and the added bonus of being near a quieter(?) pool. Looking forward to staying here for the first time!
I Love, Love, Love the 50s section. I would even be happy in Bldg 1 over Bldg 6, even though 6 is technically closer to the Skyliner. I really don’t find Pop that long of a walk. But I don’t think we have ever stayed in the 80s or 90s. But the only time I would go to the front desk to request a different room is if we we’re assigned a room in 7 or 8 since we never drive anymore.
