I’ve been to both of these (twice to Thailand) as a kid/tween (so obviously before I was really fully aware of any human rights issues)
Will almost certainly never go to these, unless things really get shaken up sometime in the future.
But I agree, I do enjoy learning about culture, food, language, etc.

Yes! I had 3 years of Russian history and my Poli Sci concentration was Soviet politics (a lot of good that would have done me). I would love to go to St Petersburg and Moscow, plus about a dozen other places.

Wait am I missing something about Germany? Or are you referring to their history (ie hitler)? Cause if it’s the latter I don’t think that makes as much difference (especially with a country that’s owned it like Germany) as current issues
