I voted AKL because it is themed perfectly from top to bottom. Having been to South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, I also say it’s very authentic. Well…. except that our hotel in Zimbabwe had baboons in the lobby; I don’t think Disney wants to take their theming that far.
Quitters
WL for deluxe. AKL is similar, and is worthy as a choice, but I felt most in awe at WL. I felt transported and could just sit in the lobby all day feeling content. AKL has animals, though. Not sure if that equates to better theming though.
Even though I have never been, I picked CBR for moderate. But I had a hard time here. I loved POR when we stayed there, but overall I feel like the implementation of the theming at CBR is a bit better. If you interpret the question as to which theming I personally prefer, I would have chosen POR instead. But I decided to vote best on overall implementation of a theme, not my personal preference.
For value, went with Pop. But I kind of feel here the theming ends up simply being a matter of personal preference. They all seem rather equivalent in terms of implementation of theming. Pop just has the most theming that speaks to me.
I missed the waterfall the first trip after its removal but have since decided it took up too much space. It was so massive there wasn’t much opportunity to see the rest of the lobby, which I like a lot.
These were my 3 toss ups too! But I went with AKL because… animals.
animals have that “IT” factor don’t they?!?!
In keeping with these polls’ eschewing of plain readings of their questions, I am interpreting “best Disney resort hotel theming” to mean “hotel with the working space most conducive to Ralphie Parker (from A Christmas Story) writing a well-conceived and executed theme for English class so as to achieve an A++++++++++(&c) and receipt of a Red Ryder BB gun.”
C+!
You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out!
Because he wrote the theme at home instead of a suitably spartan workspace that engenders intellectual rigor.
Oh. Wow.
I never thought of it that way but you are so right.

True Fact™: Isaac Hayes wrote “Theme from Shaft” in the laundry room of the Golf Resort, which is why it became a classic of the soul genre and won an Academy Award. Had he written it in a more insalubrious environment, it would would be no more than a trivial curiosity, like “Funky Fanfare.”
I’m just going to point out that there are animals at Wilderness Lodge. The first time we stayed there we were on the 3rd floor or some such. For 8 days. I’m sorry to say it took me till day 7 to go up to the top floor to walk around looking at the wood carvings. I wished I hadn’t waited so long. My grandson and I got off the elevator at each floor, looking at those carvings.
The geologically accurate stone layers of the fireplace never fail to capture my attention.
I’ve never been in the lobby when little kids aren’t enthralled by the bubbling spring.
Rocking chairs belong in lobbies.
One of our must do photo spots each trip is beside the totem pole outside the gift shop. It might just be me, but the Wilderness Lodge gift shop seems to have niftier stuff.
I haven’t always been able to get ginger ale on property but I did get some at the pool bar. Forever thankful.
Hellooo - geyser!
I’ve never been to Africa so I have no yard stick.
I do like Wilderness Lodge as a depiction of national park lodges in the west.
Which ones? Alligators? ![]()
J/K I really love the Wilderness Lodge. It deserves recognition as well.

I forgot about those!
Squirrels, birds, lizards were more in my mind.
And humans . . .
eta: I don’t know if it’s another poll, but at least one really weird thing viewed by a family member was at Wilderness Lodge.
I need details …
waiting for the poll . . .

Coming right up …
Deluxe resorts are all phenomenal, but for me there is no match for AKL.
Moderate was the hardest for me. They are all… meh. I guess, Caribbean beach for of the pool area and the pirate themed rooms?
No no no
Not the right poll.

Resort with the weirdest incident you’ve seen . . .
That’s the right poll.
