*I will 100% do the dessert party for WOC cuz that was the first time I could see everything and Wow it improved it so much seeing the whole thing. Also, while DS20 says he can tolerate fireworks the loud noises are not his favorite because of his anxiety disorder. WOC would be better in this regard.

*I have more often than not, waited for fireworks and they haven’t happened in Cali, so I’m more inclined to invest in WOC.

*But I really think WJ looks like the better show. DH asked could we go see WOC if the fireworks don’t happen but I think that’s cutting it close since they are at 930pm and the WOC is at 10:15 with the seating opening for the Dessert party at 915 (I’m sure you can come later like you can for fireworks dessert parties in MK/WDW but you won’t get your first choice of table) Does anyone know what the latest you can show up for checkin is for WOC Dessert Party for the 2nd show?

Also, Since we’re doing Oogie Boogie Bash, I contemplated adding a day to our 1 day park hoppers so maybe I can pop over the fireworks on Oogie Boogie Bash night, Please explain why it costs this much to add a day to a 1 day park hopper:

But this much to just buy another 1 day park hopper ticket:

And actually thinking about it, I don’t need a park hopper if I’m just gonna go over to Disneyland for the fireworks (which have a high chance of being cancelled) so that makes it even cheaper…

But for comparing Apples to Apples it is cheaper to buy 2 - 1 day park hoppers than to buy a 2 day park hopper ticket and by over $150?!?!? That makes no sense!

I love, love, love Wondrous Journeys and would always choose it. The new WOC was….not my favorite. Of course everyone needs to make their own judgment. But they don’t really even compare.
You can easily watch both in one night and don’t need the WOC dessert party to have the best view. The best view to me is from the bridge to LLL and you can generally get front row for the late WOC. We just did this a few weeks ago.
Not sure on how late you can check in for the dessert party. I have done it twice but hate that the view is blocked by people in front of you when it costs so much. I am 100% commited to the free bridge.

I think I’ve made a decision.

Tues/Aug 19 - I bought the 1 day DL ticket for $104/pp and I’ll take the day off work and will go around lunch time. Hop on over for Oogie Boogie Bash and do as much as I can until 9pm-ish and hop back to DL to try and catch WJ (this gives me two shots at it and I won’t dedicate a lot of time to waiting for it since I’ve been burned wasting over an hour about 75% of the time I wait for fireworks in DL). This will also exclude son from fireworks if it happens. Then pop back over to Oogie Boogie until it closes at 11pm. Then pop back over to DL for the 11:45 Tapestry of Happiness on iasw which I believe you reported you loved!

Then on our full park hopper day with the kids which I say loosely since they are 18 and 20 right now, LOL, I have the dessert party for WOC but if I don’t get to WJ the night before then I can cancel this hopefully (I’m hoping the 24 hour cancel policy really just means by midnight). But if not we can aim to do both as you say one way or another. I feel like I’ve seen this parade in HK (Paint the Night, it feels real real familiar from my 2018 trip) so I may try for it on the night with the kids while waiting for the fireworks if I don’t see them on 8/19 but I’m okay missing this if we can’t fit it in.

*Adding that buying that 1 day ticket to DL allows me to focus on non-LL attractions that day too my kids are “over” like the dark rides in FantasyLand ha ha

*And my Oogie Boogie focus will be on the character treat trails particularly Ernesto de la Cruz if he’s back cuz in the youtube video I saw he literally effin sang Remember Me - the whole song! Villains Grove, and GotG with the ride layover. The parade will be icing

Sounds good. I can’t decide if I want to go to OBB this year. Skipped last year after going many years in a row but still thinking about it. Ernesto was fabulous. My favorite part of OBB is usually the characters in the treat lines.

I’ve been twice and loved it both times but I had kids in the perfect age group. This would be an adults date night but I’ve fully turned DH not into a Disney adult but something adjacent. LOL So I think it’s okay to go as 40 somethings without the kids! I love the character treat trails too, it’s one of the things that makes me prefer this to MNSSHP (though I do love the Sanderson Sisters stage show and the halloween fireworks which over here are separate :frowning: )

I have a Megara costume and bought him a Hercules T-Shirt and long running shorts. I’ll know he’ll wear the shirt at least, the shorts might be a long shot LOL

I am also hopeful cuz of AI:
No, August is not particularly windy in Anaheim. August is actually one of the calmer months, with average wind speeds around 5 to 7 mph (8 to 12 km/h). While coastal influences can occasionally lead to slightly stronger gusts, the overall wind pattern in August is mild.

and yup I’ve seen this:
Yes, the “Paint the Night” parade did debut at Hong Kong Disneyland. It premiered there in 2014 for the park’s 9th anniversary before making its way to Disneyland in California.

I voted for Wondrous Journeys mostly based on the fact that others rave about it. I have kinda seen both shows but not from optimal viewing points - basically from in line or while traversing the park.

Typically I enjoy WoC more than fireworks as a show format. But that’s just my fascination with water / fountains.

Sounds perfect for an adult only night. I usually go with adults as well, I only took the kids once when they were younger.

When we were just there FW went off all 4 nights of our trip. I couldn’t believe it, pretty sure that has never happened in all my years of going.

Current plan. Most of that isn’t in the system yet like Frightfully Fun parade so I’m guessing based on last year’s. Also, in my experience Villains Grove always has something of a line but it is lower later. So I’ll toggle that with GotG based on wait times. And can always make the kids sit thru Tapestry of Happiness the next day if we get in line for something right at close and it’s long.

While I’ve visited Carthay Circle Lounge multiple times I’ve never done the sitdown. Figured with DH it’s a good opp.
