OOB Tickets- Any experience with compassionate refunds?

We FINALLY booked OOB on 10/23, after years and years of hoping to go. Over the weekend I learned that my mom will need in home help (AKA me!) following an intensive medical procedure, so DH and I cannot go. Does anyone have an experience with requesting refunds? Better by phone? By chat? I tried once by chat this morning and received the standard “you can share with friends or family” response. Sigh. Thanks, liners, for any intel.

Your best bet is to call and explain the situation and see what the person on the other end of the line can do. I don’t know what phone number you would even begin to call now for DLR events. And there’s a very high likelihood they won’t have anyone over the phone that can help and will direct you to go to the ticket booths to get anything worked out.

If you are local to SoCal, then it may be worth it. If not, then your next best bet is sharing them with someone who you know will use them (and possibly can repay you what you paid Disney).

We have purchased tickets from a liner who couldn’t end up using theirs and it worked seamlessly to scan in with the barcode they emailed me.

ETA: I’m so sorry your long-awaited plans of OOB need to be adjusted! And I hope your mom is able to recover well & she is lucky to have you working to figure out how to best help her!
