One-night stay prior to Disney resort arrival

Possibly a dumb question but I don’t travel a lot so please bear with me. I’d like to take advantage of the free water park on arrival day and am looking to book an airport area hotel for a one-night stay prior to our family’s Disney vacation in August. I am considering the Hyatt that is located inside of MCO. Does anyone know if you need to go through security to get to ground transportation at MCO following a stay in this hotel? Or any recommendations for a convenient one-night stay prior to our Disney resort reservation?

You would not need to go through security.

When I saw this thread, the Hyatt was my first thought. Especially if you are coming in late that first day, this is a great option. The hotel entrance is located outside the security ring, as are ground transportation options, so you would not need to go through security the following morning.

Another option would be a Value or offsite resort that is near your Disney resort. Or you could try out a Universal hotel, which tend to be a better value. In fact, I am doing two nights at a UOR hotel with a trip to Volcano Bay before checking into my Disney resort for the third night for my trip in October.

The Hyatt at MCO is fabulous and wicked convenient! It is, as others have said, outside of the security zone. You would deplane, exit the secure zone, collect bags, and then check in. In the morning you would simply head out to your preferred transportation option, no need to clear security!

It’s wonderful!

On our last visit we stayed at the other Hyatt. It’s near by, with a gazillion other airport hotels. 15 minutes Uber ride away, with free breakfast. And it was half the price.

This is a good point that we found when I looked at staying at the airport Hyatt. It’s $$- might depend on time of year but I think a value could be a cheaper option.

When we visited in May we landed after midnight and decided to stay the first night at the MCO Hyatt. It was WONDERFUL. So convenient for late arrival and it was nice kind of splitting up the tasks of getting to your destination. Flight + baggage pick up the night before and rental pickup in the morning.

Also, if you have more than one in your party you can split up upon arrival. We had DH and DS grab bags from baggage claim while the rest of us went to deal with check in.

But for a late arrival it’s no more convenient than adding a night at the hotel you’ll stay at the rest of the time

And in the morning.

I went down to get the rental car situated while they finished getting ready and grabbed breakfast to go

True— that’s what we always end up doing.

Has Hyatt lowered their prices since late January 2025? If you recall, back then the Hyatt was so expensive that we were able to book 1 night at CSR at a much cheaper rate…

It can be expensive, and it is variable.

I would not always recommend it because of the expense, but again for a late night arrival there’s nothing better than flopping right into bed as opposed to taking 90mins-2hrs (depending on mode of transport) to get from MCO to resort.
