Just got tickets for four olympic events, including 2 volleyball sessions which are being played in Anaheim. We got tickets for whatever we could manage / afford, so there are several days in between. Been to the World several times but never Disneyland so we were hoping to spend some time there in between. I know it’s 2 years out but wondering if we will be able to possibly stay there for a few days?
That will be such a fun combo trip! I expect many folks will combine their LA Olympics with Disneyland Resort (DLR) and other SoCal destinations. I expect the whole area to be quite busy through the Olympics, but if your event is in Anaheim, I do think it will be quite doable!
My number #1 tip would be to book your accommodations as soon as you can! I know we’re quite some time away from 2028 being available to book, but I would keep an eye open for when that could possibly be the earliest and get something on the earlier end, if you can book something refundable 12-18 months in advance, that would be ideal, and you could possibly still find things 6-9 months in advance, but I wouldn’t suggest trying any sooner than that.
Also, plan for lots of traffic. SoCal is already well-known for gridlock without peak traffic. I am sure they have to be strategizing how to better encourage use of public transportation options (and hopefully by bettering/expanding them), but if nothing much changes then it will be very slow to move at peak times so plan for getting anywhere to take time. But if you’re all within Anaheim, that at least shouldn’t be near as difficult as trying to navigate to/around LA proper.
I would assume DL will be busy, but in Paris Disneyland was a ghost town during the 2024 Olympics. Lots of locals left town entirely. Quite possible that’s the case in LA too, as it’s what happened in 1984 the last time the games were in LA.
Ha ha I can hope!
we have a while to think about it - but good point about the traffic
