Oga’s Cantina - Walk-up Only at DLR

Just saw this from Scott Gustin — also reported by other outlets.

Curious to see how this goes. Will they do the same at HS?

I wonder why? Has business been that slow?

SWGE is really far in the back of the park so I wouldn’t be surprised if traffic is slow at some times in the day. But also probably busy at others. :man_shrugging:

You could say the same thing about the version at DHS.

I think it’s an order of magnitude worse at DLR. At least at HS, SWGE is adjacent to TSL – possibly the most popular land in the park. And HS doesn’t have much to do if you exclude SWGE, so it’s sort of a necessary stop for most folks, I expect. At DL you could spend a whole day and never set foot in SWGE and you wouldn’t run out of things to do. And even from BTMRR and Tiana’s, it’s a hike to Batuu.

So this might be silly - but I wonder if it also has to do with the lack of food? Like, do people make a reservation assuming they’re going to sit down for a full meal and then have a bad guest experience when they can get a few little snacks and a drink?
Maybe there would be a shift in guest expectations if they didn’t have to make a reservation to experience?
I don’t know how many times I have sat down (or stood) next to a family who made the Oga’s reservation as their main reservation of the day and were UPSET with the result (also, like, read a menu).

Or maybe it is just low attendance.

I looked into Oga’s at HS last Tuesday and could have had my choice of ADRs as late as that same morning. There was no lacking slots.

I think for many it is one-and-done. It’s cool to see it, but it’s weird sitting with strangers? and there isn’t food?

My issue with Beak & Barrel.

If Trader Sam’s in Disneyland can serve food, why can’t Trader Sam’s in Disney World?

Each of my older girls has been inside Oga’s and they were amused, but not enthralled. I will take my younger girls on our November trip, and I hope we see Tab’s friend working while we are there! We did the Hyperspace Lounge on DCL Wish, but that was very quiet in comparison.

What it tells me is ressies are way way down so they don’t think they need them and that walkup will work well

Maybe I’m mistaken?

I enjoy the atmosphere of Oga’s but the lack of seating (limited booths) is frustrating. It needs barstools at a minimum.

But does anyone ever have a hard time getting an Oga’s ressie anymore?

No.

I thought this was intentional to get people in and out

Seems like that’s no longer necessary.

I don’t think that’s silly at all. It would really be nice if they had more of a menu of snacks and small plates at least

Plus, honestly, it’s kind of a novelty. Most of the drinks are just “okay” (a few are good) and they are all premade. I’m happy to go when I’m there. I’m just as happy not to go.

Yes!

Maybe they can rework things. I can see good reasons for the time limit and drink maximum when it opened, but maybe adding snacks or changing seating would make it more desirable again (I’m basing that on how hard it was to get ADRs in years’ past, vs currently).

You know who else shot themselves in both feet and at least one ankle?

Be Our Guest

(That’s the open list for tonight)

Would love if they brought back QS lunch . . .

That ADR used to be so hard to get. Now the restaurant seems 1/2 empty at all times. It feels like the math doesn’t add up.

It is so freakin’ expensive! I can’t afford that every time. It’s like a once-every-five-years type of experience.
