Off the beaten path...err...park

I’ve been wanting to get over to Plancha at Four Seasons, personally

This trip you are taking is my very favorite trip I’ve taken out of my 10 Disney trips!!! I did Jollywood, MVMCP and EP festival of the holidays, and it was just phenomenal!!! I know you didn’t ask, but try and do Candelight processional if you can.

We honestly slept in after the late parties! And then a big breakfast. Boma was delightful and perfect for a late breakfast.

I dream of taking this trip again and hope to be able to go again for Christmas in a couple years!

That’s the plan. (I will attempt to get a dining package to make it easier.) And…throwing in a 3 night Disney cruise for good measure. (It is our 30th anniversary, so we are “doing it all”, more or less.)

Ha…the last time I went golfing, I think I was about 18. Let’s just say…it (my performance) wasn’t pretty at all.

This one intrigues me. It looks like it is a beautiful setting.

Firstly, I didn’t know there was a separate bar…is this like other lounges where it is strictly walk-up? The food from the restaurant kind of scares me…but braised beef wontons sounds amazing.

I’ve never actually had this…but how can anyone take a food seriously with name like that? It sounds like a joke every time I hear it. But Victoria (from Disney in Detail) seems to adore them. One of these days I’ll have to get past the silly name!

Are these the same noodles that are found at Ohana? If so, I expect my wife will love them…but we aren’t sure we want to commit to eating at Ohana.

Disney is SO limited in food options…

The 15 layer cake is definitely my vibe. The fact that you can get it at the lounge is good to know. We didn’t really enjoy our steaks at SH71 (like, at all), so not sure if we’ll go back. But the lounge could be a different story.

We aren’t really into breakfasts too much when we’re at Disney. Sounds like an opportunity if we ever manage to get to stay at AKL, though!

The only thing I can add to the fab list already complied here is to take advantage of the holiday seasonal treats at the resorts. For us the Contemporary, GF, AKL, Poly (counter outside Kona b4 the monorail) seemed to offer more festive choices at their QS locations. So, you go for the holiday decor and grab the treats. You could take them back to your room. A few years ago the Contemp had a great Turkey, cranberry club at holiday time. Enjoy!

That sounds quite nice!

100% Toledos and everything about Grand Destino Tower. It is really special and beautiful at Christmas. But speciafically I really enjoy the ambiance and food at Toledo. They also don’t rush you like most WDW restaurants.

It was a really nice flavor combo of sweet and savory… I think there was stuffing/dressing on it too. And it was warm

Also - the crusted New York strip at Flying Fish is something I am dreaming about for our December trip. Worth every penny.

Probably my favorite steak ever.

I had some left over and my server sliced it for me (I didn’t ask),so I would be able to eat it in my room without a steak knife. Best afternoon snack ever.

Good call - and last time I got Zebra Domes, the staff told me to get the ones that are “gluten free”, adding that they’re better than the regular ones. And they are RIGHT! We were shocked.

Interesting! In what way are they better?

I’m glomming on to this thread.
We have three non-park days on our upcoming trip in November. With suggestions on Open Thread, I’ve planned the first day to be breakfast at Sanaa and dinner at Ale and Compass.

I still have two days and am looking at many of the suggestions on this thread. I’m looking for places to eat and/or activities other than golf and water park. Not really lounges unless they have something special visually. My 15 and 12 yo DD’s will be with us. Like - the enjoyed Hyperspace Lounge, but just any old bar won’t fit.

Does anyone have anything to say about Trail’s End at Fort Wilderness? Are there things there we could do/see?
Does Scat Cat’s lounge at PO have Aristocat items?

We are staying at CSR the second half of our trip. The setting looks so lovely here as I “walk” around with Google earth, but the menu isn’t grabbing my attention. BUT I could totally get being guac and chips and a drink, so maybe this is a good goal!

I was looking at menus last night with Marie and asked her if she knew what a pot sticker even was. She did not. We googled it. My take away was they are like chicken nuggets, but not.

Do you remember where you looked for this?
Our trip is 11/1-11/11 (originally 11/11-11/21 - but granbaby due) and I am sad that we will have fewer Cmas items on display. I may do the monorail circuit near the end if I hear intel that Cmas decor is largely out.
