In June when I visit WDW solo for a whole week I plan to spend a lot of time at the resorts where I’m staying, and really minimal park time.
I won’t be buying LLMP (I may buy a couple of MMSP) and most of the time I will spend in park will be in the evening hours.
I will also be visiting Typhoon Lagoon at least once as I have 3 days of free entry over my split-stay adventure.
I am interested in doing things I’ve not done before. These would mainly be your unusual, off the beaten path experiences that most people will not include in their usual touring plan of rides and attractions. I’m mostly interested in things that do not have an upcharge or may be very inexpensive, but if you find something that will absolutely blow my mind that requires some kind of a spend I’ll consider it.
What are YOUR favorite things to do in each of the parks that would fall into this category?
All I can hear playing in my head is, Dree-ee-eee-ee-eam
people watch.
In AK we spend A LOT of time in the Oasis section. Probably more than most. We also like to sit in Africa and watch the different performers. In Epcot, we like to hang out around any of the larger garden areas and look for Disney squirrels. I really want to catch the nighttime lights on SE up close. I’ve only seen them from afar. I MK I love to hang out near Main Street and Adventureland and people watch. Liberty Square is fun for that too. Hollywood Studios has been focused of Galaxy Edge stuff. But we like hanging around Echo Lake around dockside. They have characters coming through often. And after dinner the projections are peaceful.
These are all good suggestions. I especially like the idea of watching the lights on SE at EP. Also Tree of Life Awakenings if that is happening during your trip.
Might want to get your last rides in on the WDW RR and river boat.
Did they already close Lightning McQueen? And Muppets stuff? I can’t think of anything especially unusual at HS.
Idk if this falls in the category but mini golf.
We keep meaning to do the Fairways at Fantasia. No regular mini golf hazards stuff, just short fairways and putting greens. Mini golf
Both of us used to shoot pool back in the day. At the Turf Club lounge at SSR we spent a super uncomfortable but hilarious hour trying almost totally incompletely to get all the balls off the table. Mind/muscle memory kinda sorta kicked in just before we were ready to quit. I suppose we could have blamed the table
One thing we used to always do which we tried but missed last May was a haircut at Harmony Barbershop. One person or another in the family was always in need of a haircut. And pixie dust, which in my opinion is itchy. I haven’t had a haircut but more than once someone would talk the CM out of an extra handful which would later be used to surprise me. Which was fun, but itchy.
You could sit in a rocker with a beverage at Crockett’s tavern thinking of me and Kim sitting in rockers remembering a favorite aunt and uncle. And maybe reflecting on favorite family members of your own.
Yes. I had to book a quick trip first weekend in May, lol. Muppets is a favorite childhood memory. I love all of Jim Henson’s work. I kept telling DH we would eat there someday. So a Muppets Farewell Tour it is. It won’t be the same with RRC. Although I really love it for that ride. I can see Electric Mayhem as the star band and hear Kermit trying to get the gang together with Mrs Piggy trying to steal the spotlight
That’s a good thought. I have two rounds on my account that I have to check to see are still valid. Even if not I think I will get another new voucher for the first hotel stay which is technically a ticketless package and where the other two came from
I know this isn’t in a park, but it’s still something off the beaten path. Have you ever been to the Carolwood Pacific Railway room at BR? Lots of interesting train exhibits (some were Walt’s or photos of him) plus it’s quiet and has rockers.
While you’re at WL, you can check out the lobby overlook on 4th floor. It’s an extra wide area of the indoor balcony on the lake side, and used to be called the wedding floor because it was utilized for weddings with the lake as a backdrop - before the trees grew bigger. It now has a table and chairs, which made for a great spot for me to do my conference call in December (with a view of the Christmas tree).
