Oct 30 - 1 day at California Adventure - Need advice

Going to a wedding in LA, so the family only has 1 day for Disney, and they picked California Adventure (Pixar, Avengers, and it is not in Orlando.) We’re going on Oct 30 - Thursday - and need advice on what to have the best day possible. We’re staying in Burbank, so should we do rope drop? Can we arrive later? Because of the wedding the next day, we want to grab dinner by 6 and then leave the park. Any/all advice will be appreciated.

Well then yes I would drop if you’re calling it an early night. This also gives you the advantage if you plan to purchase any LLs. My three favorite Disneyland rides are in this park. GotG, RSR and Incredicoaster. All unique to the west coast. Also probably want to hit Monsters Inc before it’s gone and cuz its unique to the west coast. WebSlingers is of course unique and Grizzly River Run (wear ponchos and bring a change of shoes like flip flops if you don’t want to get wet) is also unique.

None of the pier rides besides TSMM and LM are really worth a wait and neither of those is West coast specific. But all those carnival style rides are all technically unique to west coast in theming if not in ride style. If you like the unsettling feeling of the wheel of death it’s pretty unique. It just makes me sick to my tummy most times.

If you like characters, the west coast does this better and has some unique ones. We just met Rex with a 5 min wait this month. They’ll be in the app.

Just walk thru Cars Land (the mater and Luigi’s ride aren’t worth long waits imho) and San Fransokyo (and get some bread). The bridge I think still has mini earth quakes? Can someone confirm? They told us this on a VIP tour.

There are single rider lines for RSR and IC if you’re willing to split up.

I also enjoy listening to live music while having a snack/meal in this park. paradise gardens park often has performers.

I really like all the table service dining in this park and Carthay Circle is my current fave. But the two lounges or the wine terraces are good adult fun too.

Redwood Creek Challenge (I don’t have littles anymore so sorry this came late!) is also fantastic and unique if you have kids. I used to really enjoy the Disney Animation Building when Sorcerers Apprentice had multiple rooms to explore but they kept cutting it off at various limbs higher and higher until it’s just a shell of a nothing, all for a frozen meet and greet and then I don’t know why they got rid of Beasts Library but I think I read it’s coming back. And the other attractions in this building exist in WDW. So this would be a skip for me unless it’s really bad weather (rare in SoCal).
