NYE in Epcot; 30 December in MK

We’re doing a quick park visit this December: MK on the 30th (flying in early that morning, hoping to be in line for Tron by 10:30am), Epcot on NYE itself. Looking through the threads here I see a lot about crowds on NYE, which is not surprising. But, two questions for anyone who has done this kind of thing before:

  1. Is there a best place to stand for the midnight fireworks in Epcot? I’m interested in a good view, not necessarily in a position from which to join the immense throngs exiting the park afterwards (we’ll be inching our way towards the Skyliner in any event).

  2. I understand that there is a rehearsal fireworks of some sort in MK on the 30th. Has anyone been there for that, and what time does it happen?

Any other general thoughts and reflections on experiences around NYE in either park are also welcome. (We did NYE in MK once, and that’s not something I feel the need to do again. So. Many. People. In. Not. Enough. Space.)

I could be wrong but I think @heathernoel has been on NYE a couple times. I think I did a poll about it one time.

In general if you want to be near the Skyliner, standing in UK or France is the best position for a quick exit after fireworks. If you’re ok being a little behind the crowd, then there are usually more spots in Morocco, America, Italy, Germany, and China. I would just move around until I find a decent view. With crowds at that level you’ll just be lucky to see the lagoon. Make sure you can see directly above the fireworks launching area.

More or less. For Luminous they have a rig that is towards the center. You will be able to see it around the time you are finding a spot so you should be able to tell if you have a decent view.

I found the poll I did about this. You’ll find some discussion here as well as the names of people who have actually done that you could tag into this thread.

I can’t speak to NYE in EPCOT but I can to MK on the 30th. It is perfect. You get the Christmas parade and the NYE fireworks! They typically do then twice onve between 6:30 and 8:00 and again near midnight. I think it is the best day all year to be in MK!

I can’t handle crowds so was in HS for NYE. That was a lot of fun.

My favorite spot for fireworks at EPCOT is just to the right of the American Gardens stage. There usually is plenty of room, and as an added bonus, you can see the fireworks from the MK in the distance.
