November Trip Planning

Hello my fellow Disney people!

I am planning a trip in November to Disneyland and I am looking for some advice.

Currently we land in LA on 11/9 and were planning to do 3 park days the 10th, 11th, and 12th. Potentially go to Universal on the 13th and then we will fly out the evening of the 14th after a relaxing day with a massage at the spa in the Grand Californian. We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel 11/9-11/12 before transferring to the Camelot Inn for the rest of our trip.

Well that was the plan until, to my dismay, I realized that the crowds do not look pretty on 11/10 at a score of an 8 and on 11/13 they are currently scored at a 4.

Is it worth changing my park reservation from 11/10 to 11/13 to cut my crowds “in half”? (Then do Universal on 11/10 instead?)

Then, is it worth it to try and change my hotel reservation to get the 30 minutes of early entry (if possible)?

Happy, for any feedback. I appreciate all of your smarts!

Veterans Day is a popular break for enough of the schools in the region that the weekend surrounding and that day especially do see an uptick in crowds. I would generally avoid it, and even more than Memorial Day, 4th of July or Labor Day that are much more of beach holidays where even though school is out, more of the focus is going to the beach than a theme park.

It would also make Universal a busier day than it would be otherwise (but I’m not as familiar with how crowds impact Universal Hollywood to even begin to opine on which is better to get through). I do think it might make your drive up to Universal slightly better overall since you wouldn’t have to leave before 6am to avoid a traffic jam to get there.

For me it would depend on if you wanted your one Universal day to be more relaxed (that Thursday 11/13 is probably going to be a very nice low crowd day) and also the hassle to re-adjust your hotel stay. If that doesn’t cost prohibitive to do now, then I would go ahead and re-arrange.

And also, I’d pick something much closer to Universal than Anaheim if you were already going to switch. It doesn’t even have to be LA area, but Anaheim is somewhat remote and I’d want to lessen even just 20-30 minutes worth of potential traffic by moving closer towards LA than Anaheim.
