Funny about all of the UK baked good discussion here - I was just searching for a new fruit & sponge cake recipe to make for my wifeâs birthday, and all of my results came up for Victoria sponge cake. Iâve been turning grams into ounces and cups in my head all morning.

The spot seems to have disappeared. Iâm fairly sure he got a knock on the head that resulted in some minor bloodshed. In all other regards he appears normal.

ETA: The recipe suggests making it as a layer cake, but we just make it in a 13x9 pan. Super easy that way and tastes the same.
The only bad thing is that itâs on a commercial channel now, so there are breaks for adverts. Otherwise itâs every bit as good. The new presenters were superbly well cast.

We say the same about âŚhmmm the Italian cake that comes in a tin. Mind has gone blank.
Only number 2 counts.
Any kind of fruit cake is a big no. Marzipan even worse. And carrot cake is OK as long as a) it doesnât have raisins in it and b) it doesnât have that disgusting frosting on it.
I absolutely agree with you on that abomination of baked âNew York styleâ cheesecake. It should be light and fluffy. Bella Italia used to do a good one, Cafe Nero still does and actually those packets of no bake cheesecake even are delicious! 
And absolutely never, ever drizzled with that icky raspberry sauce they insist on putting on ice cream.
