Newbie aussie with offsite accom questions!

We stayed at the Wyndam Bonnet Creek Resort last December and really liked it; full kitchen and washer/dryer. Very nice inside, pools, a place that serves Starbucks, and park shuttle. It is essentially in “the world” right next to the Caribbean Beach Resort - check it out on Google maps. We rented it through vrbo.com. We’d definitely stay there again.

We also rented a car and would recommend doing so; it is so much easier getting around. Once you pay for daily parking at one Disney park you can park at all the Disney parks that day by showing your receipt; makes park hopping easy. Makes getting to groceries, dining, shopping, other parks much easier too.

I’m jealous of your trip, have a great time!

Thanks @Fartsy Bonnet creek is definitely on my shortlist now,. Need to crunch numbers to fit the car in and convince the husband! Thanks for your help.

Great advice in this thread and welcome to chat @Quattro4! We used VRBO for our last extended stay (22 days) and got a nice discount since our stay was so long.

We certainly appreciated having a car. Have you considered an Annual Pass for one member of your party? We saved a bundle on parking over 22 days (22 x $17 = $374) because parking with an Annual Pass is free plus loads of Annual Pass discounts! It would cost more than a 10 day ticket but play with the math and see if the free parking and other discounts make it work for you. Once you have an Annual Pass you are allowed to purchase the Tables in Wonderland discount dining program which will also save you money if you’re planning to dine at WDW very often during your stay. It costs $100 but gives you 20% off most dining AND alcohol so the break even mark is $500 spent on dining pays you back for the Tables in Wonderland card, and every dollar spent over $500 is pure discount.

Wow @MaccysMousehouse thanks for the tip on the annual pass, that’s brilliant! I’ll check it out. Might not work out as good a savings for us, we’re doing a 10 day park hopper plus parks, so the annual pass equivalent is $803 USD. (Australian Resident) Will crunch numbers and look at discounts though, still might work out better in the long run.

oh, sorry @MaccysMousehouse forgot to ask which area/condo resort you stayed in via VRBO if you don’t mind sharing?

While our VRBO house was fantastic for our needs (dog-friendly, quiet) it doesn’t sound like a match for you. We were in a private residence in Indian Hills 3 miles from Animal Kingdom. Not many opportunities to meet new friends there and no shuttle service. We brought our dog Charlie and it offered a fenced in yard and private pool with an evening view of Wishes so we loved it.

Thanks @MaccysMousehouse wish we could bring our dog. Not possible from Australia!
